I used this Project Wedding tutorial http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/diy-gorgeous-chiffon-and-tulle-flowers  to aide in the making of these:

I used chiffon, tule, satin, and organza in both colors.  It was difficult trying to figure out how to sew it all together, but I finally figured it out: Fold it in half, then fold it in half again, stitch up the side, and fluff the flower!  To attach it to a hair clip, sew it around the top of the clip.  Super easy!

When we first started talking about grooms attire for the wedding, I had told Dennis that I wanted the boys to have embroidered pocket squares. I was having trouble finding someone to make what I wanted and I couldn't find anything on the internet (not even Etsy), so I decided to make them myself. Luckily for me, my sewing machine has an embroidery feature. All I had to do was purchase a design and press a button! I did make the actual pocket squares myself though. It proved a little harder than I thought because of the size of the hem, but I think I did a pretty good job! I may just start selling these on Etsy myself!

RED WEDDING DRESS!!

I saw this dress in a magazine a few years ago when my sister was getting married and I just knew it was the dress I wanted to wear when it was my turn. I even bought it before I was engaged!  I know, crazy...but my fiance and I had been together for four years at that point and I figured the proposal would be coming soon.  It didn't come as soon as I thought...but it did come (heehee) and now I can't wait to wear it!   A lot of people were really turned off by the thought of me wearing red, but they eventually warmed up to the idea and now they LOVE it!  For those of you who don't know, red is worn by many Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indian brides and the color symbolizes good luck, fortune, and joy.

BRIDESMAIDS

I decided to go to David's Bridal for the bridesmaids dress.  I couldn't decide if I wanted to do ivory, silver, or white for the girls...but I eventually settled on silver.  The matron of honor will be wearing the dress shown on the left and the rest of the girls will be wearing the dress on the right.  They both have a gorgeous chiffon overlay with light beading and they look very flattering.  The one on the left comes with a chiffon shawl as well so the girls can cover their arms if they like and I can order a similar shawl "a-la-carte" for the MOH dress.

I think we've finally decided on a garden party-love birds wedding theme.  I'm envisioning a red dress, bridesmaids in silver, local wild flowers, birds nest centerpieces, and a butterfly release.  I'm sure this will change 100 times in the next 8 months.

Hello!  My name is Jenn and I'm the bride to be.  Dennis, the fiance, and I just quit our jobs in California and moved back to our home state of Illinois.  So I am currently wedding planning in between looking for a new job. There were a number of reasons to move home: I have a new godson, he has a new niece, he's going to start school in February.....   but I'm not sure how smart it was considering we have a wedding to plan and no jobs! But is has to work out...cause there really is no other option!  Wish us luck!
