I have not found a dress twin on PW! If you are out there, please let me know!!

I am wearing an ivory Galina Signature gown from David's Bridal: SWG9905

This is how it is described on the website:

Sleek and ultra-sophisticated, this gorgeous gown has it all. Dramatic silhouette, artfully embellished asymmetrical ruffles, and a cascading ruffle back. Designed in sumptuous satin, the strapless trumpet gown also features modern beading detail at the neckline. Sweep train.

Here are the models:

I just love the back!

This isn't the style of dress that I thought I would get! For some reason, I was convinced that I didn't want satin! But I just loved the way this one looked vintage and modern at the same time. I ordered the petite size, so it is about 4" shorter than the one here. The length is perfect with my shoes, so I won't need the hem altered! But I will need it taken in a bit up top. And I need to grow a few cup sizes, so I am on the hunt for cups to sew in and/or a great bra!

Update: I decided to go with a French bustle on my dress, to maintain the ruffle as much as possible!

My first DIY!

"Will you be my bridesmaid?" cards, inspired by

They are paper dolls of my 4 BMs and 1 Man of Honor. I assembled them and put one set with each card, which had a personalized poem. Then I slid a belly band over it to hold it all together. I mailed them to each person individually. It was SO much fun waiting on their phone calls, and they all loved them!!!

The poems read:

It's been ten years since we first met,
and began a friendship I could never forget.
From Austin until now,
A million memories we’ve made.
We’ve laughed and even cried;
There's not a moment I'd trade.
And though our lives are changing, our friendship stays true;
I will need my friend there when I say "I do."
You're the best kind of friend that there ever could be,
On May 28, 2011, will you stand up for me?

We have decided on a three-tier round cake. We wanted a simple design with fresh flowers!

It will be sort of a mash-up of these two styles:

:: Design ::

All ivory buttercream icing, similar to the cake on the right. BUT with the patterns of the cake on the left.

Top tier: Dots. Middle tier: Scrolls. Bottom tier: Lattice pattern.

The dots will be silver and gold.

:: Topper ::

We ordered a 6" monogram wooden topper from Crafty Eddy. I will be painting it coral, and then adding DIY bling. We will also add coral roses to the top, as well as the tiers, like this:

:: Flavors ::

Since the red velvet cheesecake was instrumental to our proposal, we wanted to incorporate that into our wedding cake! The bottom tier will be red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The middle and top tiers will be pink champagne cake with cream cheese filling.

:: Cake table ::

We will have our cake, rose petals, knife & server set and my bouquet on the table. And as many votives as I can squeeze on the table!

Some other cake inspirations that we liked during our search!

We have twelve men to outfit!

  • One groom
  • Four groomsmen
  • One man of honor
  • Two junior groomsmen
  • Two ring bearers
  • Two dads

Gray vests and pants, with white custom Chuck Taylors (our gift to them). We liked the lighthearted, casual feel of this look; kind of modern and vintage, at the same time! We searched high and low to find matching gray suit vests and pants, and it was hard to find something that met all of our needs (the exact look, affordable, easy to obtain without us fronting the money or forcing our GMs to buy them now). So we had to adjust our plans a bit.

*After the ceremony, they will take off their jackets, roll up their sleeves, and hopefully have a similar look to our original inspiration pic above.*

Conclusion: Not what we originally planned, but we think it will still look sharp! :-) All menswear will be provided by Men's Wearhouse.

Some ties we found during our original search. Might help someone else looking for ideas :-)
