I highly recommend the MOH-only bridal party plan. Having only one person to satisfy meant that she and I were both happy with the results and she had the freedom to find something she really liked to wear. Elizabeth Bridal treated her very well. She did not require any alterations and the dress looked fabulous on her. And, she got a significantly discounted price over that quoted for the same gown at a bridesmaids gown shop in Manhattan.

Mother of the Bride Dress: Our family has been doing business with this bridal shop for years. She actually picked up her dress at their Superbowl Sale! They did a fantastic job with alterations and she looked great and felt comfortable.

Steven advertises on wedding websites. We hired him because we loved his photography, his package fit our budget, and he really clicked so well with us personality-wise. He is wonderfully friendly and laid back. He was not at all intrusive, but was always nearby catching the moment. He got some awesome photos, we were able to put together a beautiful album.

Deb did a terrific job. We wanted a city skyline cake and she executed it wonderfully. The Valhrona chocolate cake with hazelnut ganache and fresh raspberry filling was incredibly delicious and a big hit with the crowd.

What a tremendous operation. The Three West Club far exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was fabulous (people are still raving about it!) The solarium looked so beautiful -a gorgeous day and a beautiful view of St. Pats and Rockefeller center-they just about had to push people out from the cocktail hour to the dinner. The ballroom was just magical. The chandeliers are gorgeous, and reflected in the big mirrors, the room just glittered. The Lounge worked out perfect for pre-ceremony photo (what a beautiful room!) and we had private drinks and hors d'ouvres service in there for the parents and bridal party between the ceremony and reception. The service was impeccable and the meal was delicious. My DH and I made sure we ate-and enjoyed every bite. Carrie did an amazing job of coordinating all of the vendors and was on hand to deal with any minor or major crisis that presented itself. She smoothly managed the special needs of some dietary restricted guests. She really went above and beyond and was entirely responsible for everything going off without a hitch. I felt like I could enjoy myself as a guest at the party without worrying about a single detail. By the end of the night, she felt like one of the family. I cannot say enough about the club, the facilities, the food, the service, and all the "extras" that made our day so special. And most importantly for some, the Three West Club was the most INEXPENSIVE reception venue I found in Manhattan! ($100++)

I found this jewelry boutique in the Riverwalk area of New Orleans and was knocked out by the jewelry. Swarovski crystals strung on enameled silver Italian wire. My MOH loved the earrings, necklace and bracelet and they looked great on her.

Karin Yngvesdotter

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I had bought my wedding dress in 1995 during an engagement that didn't pan out (Thank the sweet Lord!!) It is a Private Label by G dress purchased at Bridal Impressions in Toms River, NJ. My mother had it preserved and kept it in the attic all this time. When my DH and I got engaged, Mom brought it down and we checked it out. I still really loved the dress, my FI approved (very important!), but it needed some updating (POOFY Sleeves! UGH!) Based on recommendations from the ladies of the knot, I brought it to Karin Yngvesdotter for alterations. She is a dream. I think I may have been one of her last alterations jobs, she is now doing her own designs exclusively. Karin did beautiful work on the dress, transforming it from a questionable early 90's poof-a-thon to an elegant 3/4 sleeve ballgown-unique with detail just not seen on current designs. I highly recommend Karin, her fabulous personality made her my favorite vendor to work with and her wedding dress designs are really gorgeous. If you are looking for a custom dress-give her a call!

Central Park carriages

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I tell you what. If you are going to have a NYC wedding at a place as spectacular as St. Pats, you might as well go all out and get the horse and carriage! The Byrne brothers of Central park Carriages are a delight to work with. They were very punctual and the horse and carriage looked the fairy tale come true! We had a real blast riding through the city up to the park for photos. People on the sidewalk, delivery guys, taxi drivers, and even homeless folks were wishing us felicitations and happiness.

St Patrick's Cathedral

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
What a place. The building speaks for itself. However, I hadn't expected the charm of Deacon Art, the coordinator of weddings at St. Pats and our celebrant. He was so friendly and really broke down the process so that we would not have any worries or anxieties about getting all of the documentation we needed for the church. He took a sincere personal interest in us and we spent much of our meeting time together just chatting like friends. He performed a beautiful ceremony and wished us a "basketball team" of children (Yipe!) Also, the security at St. Pats is fantastic. We had about 1000 spectators come in off the street, and the security staff kept it all under control and maintained our privacy before and during the wedding. Also, the church representatives that helped us line up and coordinate things before the ceremony started were really great and calmed my nerves tremendously. The only the shadow on the whole experience with the church was the rehearsal. The priest running the rehearsal was NOT Deacon Art. He rushed us through the rehearsal and left us feeling confused and agitated. He looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked questions and acted hassled and rude. I forced him to slow down and go over everything until we felt we understood what to expect, but he was resentful of my interference with "his show".

Dueto Salon

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Hair: Marsha, Dueto Salon Marsha did a wonderful job on my hair, and my maid of honor. She sculpted my hair into a perfect side part with the back shaped like the four-petal flower on my dress. She also pulled a lock of hair through my barrette and arranged it to look like a leaf. I was struck dumb. She had done a wonderful job in the trial, but really knocked it out of the park on my wedding day. She also did a wonderful job on my maid of honor. Tomasina did my mother's hair, a very elegant French twist and it also looked exquisite. Also, at $65 for an updo, this salon is an incredible bargain for Manhattan. Makeup: Melina, Dueto Salon Melina did the makeup for me, the MOH and my mother. I think we all looked great. The makeup stayed all day and felt very natural. Also another great deal at ~$40 per person.

Sound of Success

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Sounds of Success worked out great for us. We were able to pick out all of our music online and were presented with our entire music library on CD after the event. Elian did a great job, and we had people up and dancing from the Salad on through the night. Everyone was having such a great time that we extended the reception another hour. At the end of the night, he wowed us all with a surprise breakdancing performance-Wow!
