After many unsuccessful trips to the bridal shop, I fell in love with a few different dresses at Ginny's Bridal in Huntington Beach. I waited to make my decision until my mom came in town for a visit and she immediately agreed with my dress of choice. It's perfect for our wedding style... Casual, romantic, lakeside wedding. I'm so happy that's over with! Dress shopping - not as fun as I expected.
Save-the-dates, that is! I downloaded the front design from weddingchicks.com (there's a matching envelope template, too!!) and designed the back myself along with the help of the Office Max guy's computer skills. The edges are a little ruffled in this pic due to me pulling it out of the stack without removing the rubber band...I was a little excited :) But overall, I have to say that I am extremely pleased. Besides being in love with the look of the cards, they only cost $47 to have printed on ivory linen paper!!
Hopefully the rest of my D.I.Y. projects go just as smooth...
We got our engagement pictures back! Our photographer, Ryan Timm is AMAZING! I can not brag about him enough! If you live in the Chicago area, check out his website, ryantimmphotography.com. Not only did he take great photos, but he dealt with our unusually crabby baby like a pro! He works with our wedding coordinator, Katie Bryant, and she familiarized us with his work. All I can say is we are so freakin' pleased with how these turned out!
We finally picked our bridal party which was not an easy task! Jason has been the best man in four weddings and a groomsman in many more. He has like, a gazillion friends and with the way that it was looking, we were going to have a humongous bridal party. It wasn't an easy decision for me either. You don't want to hurt anyones feelings, but you don't want to look back on your wedding pictures and wonder why you had Debby Downer or Nonexistent Nina in your party. Anyways, we did it and that's all that matters.
We're going to have 8 bridesmaids/8 groomsman and 2 ushers. I made some D.I.Y. bridal party invites and was extremely proud with how they turned out! The templates are from my new favorite website, weddingchicks.com. One of a kind (sort of), cheap, and super special!
So we just had the most stressful month of our relationship... maybe even our lives. More stressful than having a baby... Much more stressful than having financial problems! We found out Jason got a job in Southern California. Great news! Having to move our family across the country in just a few weeks??? Not so great news. But we did it and we are now nice and settled in Huntington Beach, California! We could not ask for a better location to make our new home. The only downfall is that we are basically planning a destination wedding now. We already booked our venues and caterers and don't want to change our plans for the sake of being convenient for friends and family "back home".
Planning a wedding from 2,000 miles away isn't exactly my specialty so I've taken on wedding coordinator, Katie Bryant in Rockford, Illinois and my one and only brother, Jonathan Brier for our venue designer! I'm scared, but excited! This could be a really great thing for an OCD chick...or really bad :( We'll see! For now, I'm just trying to avoid a bridezilla moment. Until then, I will continue to plan for one of the biggest events of my life with nothing but grace.
I can do this!
I always wanted something totally simple and I was just going to add a plain white gold band. Now don't get me wrong-I'm obsessed with my engagement ring! But all of a sudden, this crazy need for more diamonds came over me! I just want to fill up my finger with pure flashy goodness! Sorry, Jason...looks like we'll be spending a little more on my wedding band than anticipated :(
