Apr 11, 2012
Well, after tons of debating, we have decided to change our theme and date of our reception.
If you recall, we had originally planned our Reception for Dec 6, 2012, Christmas party/reception. However, after this last Christmas and all the trouble getting families together just to open gifts, I was thinking, how in the world are we going to do this at Christmas?
So, every year we take a vacation to Roaring River State Park in Cassville, MO. It's gorgeous, lush rolling hills in the middle of the Mark Twain Forest. There's trout fishing, a nature center and playgrounds, etc.
We drove up there to check it out this past weekend and they have a covered pavilion with electrical outlets, grills, tables, and restrooms nearby. There is a little resort nearby for people to stay. We're expecting less than 20 people, maybe even less than 15. It's just close family.
We will do a rustic picnic/fishing style reception with fish net on the tables and old galvanized minnow buckets with fresh flowers as centerpieces. We will have an IPOD set up for our music. I can wear a summer dress and sandals and my fiance, (he's jumping for joy) gets to wear jeans and casual, lol.
Grilled Trout, burgers, coleslaw, baked beans, mini pie bar, wedding cake, lemonade, soda pop, and beer will be available. Kids play on the playground. It will be a great time and we get to take our summer vacation and still have our reception for a lot less money.
Tim asked me to marry him on Friday night, June 25th. We had reservations at Bodean's Seafood Restaurant in Tulsa. We always reserve Friday night as our "eat out" night so we don't have to cook, etc. But this was a bit unusual, we never go to a place as nice as this. I told him to pick the place for that night, cause I had picked last time. When we got there, the place was dark, white linen tablecloths, etc. We sat in a booth, across from each other. The waitress was attentive and so far, the wine and appetizer was superb. Right before dinner came, Tim made the comments that once in a lifetime you fall in love with your soulmate, the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I know he said some other things but everything was all of a sudden a blur and then he pulled out the ring and asked me, Beth, will you marry me? It was the most perfect moment, ever! After our dinner came, the manager of the restaurant came over and gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert. It was the most amazing evening!
It was a great weekend. Picked up my ring. Got to try it on and it looks just so amazingly better than I remembered it. It was designed for me. It is an 18k white gold split shank setting with micro round diamonds on the ring and a .76K Oval Brilliant center stone with a halo of micro round diamonds that surround it. It is just stunning.
The bad part is I can't wear it yet. He hasn't asked me "properly" (his words, lol). So somewhere down the line, when I least expect it, he will ask me. Til then, it's at the top of our closet. It's just not fair!!!
