I found a great article on Weddingbee on how to create Tears of Joy.
I never realized what a pain in the rump they would be. I didnt want to pay to have Etsy or Beau-coup create labels for me since I could create them myself. Being cheap didnt pay out this time. The 2x4 labels were too large; the address labels were a little small. But, I had to settle.
Total DIY project: about 25 dollars
glassine envelopes- $7.99 from Ebay
ribbon- 1/2 off from Michaels $1 a spool
Avery labels- had laying around home
Kleenex- 3 packs for $1
I am not very crafty or handy with tools so many of my DIY projects may end up being Buy It Yourself or Make It Dino projects.
Dino's very first MID project is creating our card box. My friend Nicole, the very craft its.nicsknack created a picture frame card box. I was thinking of using pics of us with different signs having to do with the wedding.
**UPDATE** Here is my almost finished card box:I just need to create my cover and add pics.
I am having a few different types of centerpieces; some high, some low. Were using a variety of flowers including daisies, orchids and hydrangeas in a variety of colors. Our florist did a mock up for us. When I showed my FI, he said it was too pink. To incorporate our navy fuchsia theme, I am going to have the florist switch the hydrangeas to blue instead of pink.
I looked all over for the perfect pocket invitaion and couldnt find anything that I really liked. Thanks to PW, I found out about Signatures by Sarah. I contacted her and YIPPIE, she is going to design our invitations based on these designs.
My florist charges 1,100 for uplighting a room. I have attempted to skimp cost on many parts of the wedding and think that uplighting is a way to reward myself. I want to walk into the reception and think it is gorgeous. The way a space looks to me is more important than a lot of other aspects. I am not sure if I want to go with elegant amber uplighting or a party look with blue uplighting. Decisions...Decisions. LOL
After visiting a couple catering halls in the DC/MD area we agreed on having our reception at Martin's Crosswinds. I have been to many wonderful weddings at Martin's and the food has always been incredible. It does have the Liberace/gaudy vibe to it but I am hoping that with good lighting (which I may have to splurge on) I can tame that look.
