I know that I am behind with the updates but I have been extremely busy with the final details of our wedding. Now that it's over (I miss it already), I can fill all of you in. Here are our EP shot by the magnificent Brian and Allie of Callaway Gable Photography. I can't give them enough praise. I just included some of the pics but you can see more on their blog http://callawaygable.com/blog/
So we ordered the Bridesmaids dresses last month. They should arrive early September. The girls are excited to see the real thing. I have to admit that I am as well. I included the picture of the style but the color isn't accurate. The girl's shoes have already been purchased. I came across a really good sale so I picked them up. I already had everyones shoe sizes just in case I was put into that situation. I haven't figured out their jewelry but I'm not worried. I'm sure that I will find gorgeous accessories to go with their lovely dress.
Our wedding invitations went out Thursday. It felt good to see the final product go out after countless hours of designing, prepping and assembling. All of the work was well worth it. I'm glad I made the decision to do them myself.
Our venue is an historic 1920's building with a lot of details. The wood is a dark and the ceilings are gold leaf with a gorgeous crystal chandelier. With that being said, we wanted rich romantic colors for our evening wedding in November to compliment our beautiful venue. So we decided to have a Peacock Inspired wedding. I say inspired because I do not want peacock feathers flying everywhere, lol. Our primary colors are navy, plum and teal with gold as the accent color.
FLOWERS I LOVE!
I love the colors and flowers used. The texture is amazing!
I am drawn to the gold coloring of the first cake but I love the shape and flourishes of the second cake.
Ten years later we're engaged. Eric planned the most amazing proposal that took my breathe away. It all started on...
Thursday, November 26, 2009: After spending Thanksgiving with Eric's family we board a plane to San Francisco to enjoy a fun-filled weekend. I was excited to be with the man that I loved (Eric), in one of my favorite cities (San Francisco), staying at one of my favorite hotels (The Palace).
Friday, November 27, 2009: Scheduled a wine tasting tour in Napa Valley. The two of us have never been wine tasting before so we were thrilled that we were sharing this experience with one another. The shuttle picked us up early from Union Square. We visited several wineries, had a great lunch outdoors and even went to the Golden Gate Bridge. After a long day of drinking, we arrived back to our hotel around 5:30 pm. We didn't have time to relax because we had tickets to see the Broadway Musical Wicked. We quickly got ready and headed to the theater. Enjoyed the show but was definitely exhausted and ready to get back to the room.
Saturday, November 28, 2009: Eric made sure that my morning started off the way that I love... with breakfast from room service. It wasn't unusual for him to order room service because we always order breakfast whenever we stay at hotels. After breakfast, Eric rolled the cart outside, claps his hands together and announced that it was time for a massage. My immediate response was that I was too tired to give him a massage. I was shocked when he said the massage was for me. The full body massage put me to sleep. After a quick nap, we got dressed to see the city and shop.
While shopping, I felt a little sluggish from running around all day on Friday. I mentioned to Eric that we should cancel our dinner reservations and just hang out. Eric said that was fine and we continued shopping. A little later he said we should just go to dinner being that we rarely have the opportunity to get dressed up and do something different. He had a good point so I agreed to go. We went to one of my favorite stores, BEBE. I looked around, tried on a few things and selected some items to purchase. The saleswoman took my clothes to the counter and as she was ringing them up I continued to look around. When I came back to the counter I noticed that Eric pulled out his credit card to pay for them. I thought to myself "Damn! I should have got more stuff". It was getting closer to the time for us to get ready for dinner. I still wasn't really interested in getting dressed up so I told Eric that I was going to cancel my make-up appointment. Knowing me as well as he does he quickly said, Ok just know that I'm going to look better than you and we are going somewhere after dinner and I don't want you complaining that you feel out of place. Enough said, I was headed to Nordstrom for my make-up appointment at MAC.
As I was getting my make-up done, Eric headed back to the room to get ready. I have had my make-up done a hundred times at MAC and have always loved it. Of course on this day I would get the only girl in the place that I didn't want to touch my face. I couldnt change artist because they were extremely busy and I didn't have time to wait around for anyone else. So after an hour of her stopping to sale product, leaving foundation brushstrokes on my forehead, eyeshadow not the same on both eyes, and picking out horrible shades of lipstick...I was pissed! I arrive at the hotel furious and Eric was worried. For an hour he kept trying to convince me that my make-up was fine and that I looked beautiful. I didn't believe him and tried my best to make it look better. I was still upset when we caught the taxi to go to dinner.
We arrived at the Top of the Mark Restaurant that is on the top floor of a hotel. Eric checks in and the hostess takes us to our table. We stop at the best table in the restaurant with ceiling to floor windows revealing an amazing view of the city. I was thinking that we got a pretty good table despite Eric making last minute reservations. I am overlooking the martini menu and Eric immediately leaves to go to the restroom. While he is gone, a violinist walks over to our table and announces that he is going to play. I said that was fine and didnt think anything of it because it was a really nice restaurant and I was trying to pick a martini. Eric comes back to the table and the first thing that I tell him is that there are like ten pages of martinis and its hard for me to decide. The Manager brings menus and hands one to Eric and I. I noticed that there was a little pink envelope in the corner of my menu. Eric told me that it was for me so I opened it. It said " Today is the beginning of the rest of our lives". I look up and he is still sitting so I looked back down. I figured that he would explain. (After ten years, I learned not read too much into things in order to avoid disappointment.) I turn to my right to set the note by my purse when I turned back around Eric was to my left on his knee. The violinist is playing Angels by Robin Thicke, Eric is proposing and I am in total shock. I just remember him ending with "Will you do me honor of being my Wife?". I'm crying and answered YES. He then says but you haven't seen the ring. I told him that I didn't care, I loved him. He pulls out the ring and I was that much happier that I said yes.
At this point I was on cloud nine. Just when I thought that it couldn't get any better the server brings out a bottle of Ace of Spades Rose. Eric not only got my favorite drink (champagne) but got one of the best champagnes and went out of his way to get me the PINK one (Pink is my favorite color). Then he points out this box on the table. It was a pink Forever Rose dipped in 14 Karat gold and enscribed with 11-28-09. Come to find out Eric picked that day to propose because it was exactly ten days after our ten year anniversary, and if you add the 2+8 in the date it also equals ten. Fabulous!
Our meal arrives and I just pick at it because I'm too excited to eat. We make our way to dance floor and danced for a couple of songs by the band joined by a grammy nominated pianist. As we are heading out Eric announces that he has another surprise for me. The taxi takes us to the surprise location called The Bubble Lounge. I was thrilled to find out it was a champagne bar with nothing but champagne. Heaven!!! Eric reserved a table for us with a bottle of champagne waiting. We talked, we laughed, we danced and after a memorable night made our way back to our hotel.
Eric always told me that I wouldn't know when he was going to propose. I never believed him but he was right. The proposal was more than I ever imagined and believe me over the years I've come up with thousands in my head. He incorporated so many things that I love to make it perfect for me. I love him!
**** Here is my Beautiful Engagement Ring that he picked out all by himself!****
Eric and I met in high school. I was a junior when he transferred to my school his senior year. Becoming friends was easy because we hung out in the same social circle. Throughout the year we became very close friends. I considered him one of my best male friends. As the school year was coming to a close our feelings for each other were growing stronger. Our friendly relationship changed the night we kissed at a party. I knew after that moment that I wanted him to be my boyfriend. Eric however needed a little more convincing. Sadly two months later we weren't speaking due to a huge misunderstanding that led to unnecessary drama. The summer was long and I missed my friend. I didn't know if I would ever see or speak to him again. Little did I know that an ordinary day out with my friend would change my life.
Towards the end of summer my friend asked me to hang out with her for the day. One of the stops was at her boyfriend's house. I was surprised when I walked in after her and seen that Eric was there (he is the cousin of her boyfriend). I was shocked and nervous because I didn't know how this was going to turn out. After talking for hours I realized that I wasn't the only one miserable for the months we were separated. We instantly rekindled our relationship. November 18, 1999 we became a couple.
Eric and I have been together since that day. Ten years later, I love him more today than I did yesterday. I still get anxious and giddy when I am going to see him; I still get the chills when he touches me and I melt when he kisses me. He makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. Better than a dream come true, he is the man I am going to marry!
