Okay, not only is the wedding date and location changed but I just decided to change the colors as well. How ambitous is that. I loved my green, black and white theme but I think its too harsh of a color palette for a Puerto Rico wedding, therefore I changed my colors to neutrals and the pale pink. And since I am not inviting everybody to the Puerto Rico wedding I will use he wedding invitations I've made for that and use the black ones for our anniersary party that we will be having for the folks who can not celebrate with us out in Puerto Rico.
I have a long journey ahead of me and I will try to keep you fellow brides and brides-to-be updated on my progress. Its hard planning this wedding, working full-time, being mommy, wife and going to school for nursing no less...but nothing I can't handle.
So, As you can see, out wedding date has been changed. Its kind o hard to think that our wedding could of been happening in just under a week. But there was some unforeseen circumstances that my husband and i couldn't predict. So we have changed not only the date but the location. Due to his family being much older and not able to travel we will be having our wedding in San Juan, PR. I can not wait. It will be one big family vacation for my family and a great chance for my family and his to final get together and meet. I can not wait. Right now I am emailing back and forth with wedding planners to make my final decision on who to get. If anyone have any ideas on people to use in Puerto Rico please don't hesitate to send me a message. Excited to be starting this process again. Good think I didn't mass print any of the invitations. That would of set me back. Still using my diy pocketfolds thou. Just don't know how now. Airline tickets are looking cute right now.
MASS PROJECTION OF DIY INVITES HAS BEGUN....
I recieved my delivery today of the Brazzill Basics Bling Cardstock that I ordered from JoAnn's online. It arrived in perfect condition...so I set some cookies and milk in front of lil mann and placed my workstation at the dining room table...updates coming soon with pictures...YAY!!!!!
So went and got some more paper from Michael's today. No one mentioned how obsessed you may become over these projects. I was determined to get it right and so I did.
So using my template I made, I got back into things. And this time I came out with three almost perfect pocketfolds.
First I cut my template out of the paper (which was a 12 X 12)...
Then I scored it at 1 1/4", 6 1/2" (all the way down to the pocket) and then again at 10" (for the pocket part). After which I folded in the two sides of the pocket, attached some roll on glue and folded it up...
And this is my finished project in black, white and the green. It is sealed with ahesive glue right now (unsure what to use to seal it) and stamped with my monogram and some pearl and crystal accents...
I remember as a child I use to love doing projects like this and this completely brought me back to that. I just love being creative and using my imagination to its limits. I was only going to use one of the colors but after I finished I just couldn't choose so, I asked the fiance and the MOH and they both agreed with me that I should just do all three colors. SO saying that i ordered all the paper I needed and it only came up to $42...yeah I know it shocked me too. I went to JoAnn's website and they were on sell for $7.49 for a 25/pk. I lucked out I guess. Can Im thinking about putting ribbon around it and then stamping and jeweling but I dont know.
So I tried to make my first DIY pocketfold and it actually came out fine. I have to do some twicking to it to make it perfect but I think i'm heading in the right direction. It was a little confusing at first since I kept measuring the wrong side of the paper and then remeasuring the other side and then wondering why my measurements were off. lol. But after I took a deep breathe and focused while I watched Jimmy Neutron with my lil man I made it...my first pocketfold. I was so proud that when my fiance woke up I danced around him with the pocketfold in my hand...saying "I did it, I did it, lo hice". So here it is. When I finally do settle down and focus all my might on making my pocketfold I will post my steps online since almost all you DIY PW Brides helped me find a template I truly loved.
Hey fellow brides. I'm new to this blog thing so just bare with with. I am 23 years old, been with my fiance for 3 years, got engaged Feburary 12, 2010 because he just couldn't wait for Valentine's Day which according to my sister he was planning on doing a surprise proposal.
Well I work as a Medical Assistant at Umass Memorial Medical Center in the Pediatric Department. I love my job. I help and play with young children all day and then come home to my gorgeous three-year old son, Steven. I'm currently in school going for my Nursing degree and then maybe my Masters. One day at a time. I tend to dream big but I always seem to achieve everything I dream to achieve.
Back to the proposal...It was any regular Friday for me. We went to run some errands, one being the jewelry store which I didn't think much about cause he had a ring of his own to pick up, coincidence?! I think not. When we returned back to our apartment I was doing the dished while he was getting ready for work. AND THEN...he came up behind me and gave me the most sweetest hug he ever gave. He said he love me and I said no I love you more (a little game we play). Then he said no I love you more because of this...and when I turned around there he was with the ring in the box. He looked at me with those gorgeous eyes and asked me to spead today, tomorrow and forever with him. For he feel in love with me the first time our eyes ever met. He know me all to well that he placed the ring on my finger before I can offically say yes. The proposal didnt stop there either. Since he had to work he sent me and my best friend, my cousin, to the nail salon to get manicures and pedicures and paid for us to go out to eat dinner. He is the best thing that the wind blow my way and I tend on keeping this wonderful man as happy as I can.
