This is my engagement story.
APR 30 2010: On the night before Irene’s half marathon race near the American River, we go through our usual pre-race ritual that always includes a big Italian pasta dinner. As a bonus, Walt’s younger brother, Roger, is there to keep them company. Walt normally finds an inspirational movie to watch the evening before the race.
Walt decides that this evening would play out a little differently. There was not going to be a viewing of “Miracle on Ice” or “Rocky” tonight.
Background: It’s about 10 pm back at the hotel. Irene is in her pajamas and clipping her toe nails while sitting on the bed getting ready for bed. Roger is in the bathroom showering, so the clock is ticking before he is done.
Walt: Hold on a second. **Turns around to grab a small box out of a drawer ;Lucky for Walt, Roger was able to keep the ring safe and out of Irene’s sight the entire day. This was necessary since Irene has a tendency to go through Walt’s things.**
Irene: Is that THE Bulova watch that I wanted?
Walt: No, but even better... **Gets down on one knee and pulls out a small, blue box and opens it** Will you Marry Me?
Irene: What the heeeeel?! **drops her toe nail clipper on the bed**
Irene: Hahahahahaha **lying on her back and giggling non-stop for ALMOST 30 seconds**
Walt: Is that a Yes?
Irene: Thank You **grab the ring from Walt’s hand**
Walt: Huh? Let’s try this again...Will you marry me, Irene?
Irene: Yes…^- ^
