We were SICK and TIRED of the cold weather. I went to California in January for a conference and told him how great the weather was. He suggested we go back to get away from 27 degree weather. We also planned to go to Napa to go wine tasting.
On the last day of the trip, he told me he made dinner reservations so I should get dressed up. He also told me that we were going to take some pictures. I didn't think anything of it because I had told him that we should take some professional pictures a few weeks earlier. We met the photographer at the San Francisco City Hall which was a beautiful, old building. We had a really fun shoot. I thought he might try to pull something, but nothing happened and we concluded the shoot. I put my coat on. I was ready to go.
Right before we exited the building, the photographer said that he thought the lobby of had great lighting, so he asked me to take my coat off to take a few more shots. Shawn suggested I take them sitting on a bench. When I sat down, he handed me a scrapbook that he had made and a really sweet card. That's when I thought something might be up.
After looking through the scrapbook, I stood up to hug him, and he dropped to his knee. I almost fainted. Nothing prepares you for that moment. I was totally undone. We'd never tried on rings, and he what I wanted.
While I love the ring, I am more touched by the fact that he would go to such lengths to make our engagement so special. I thank God for such a caring and considerated partner, and I can't wait to share our special day with our close friends and family.
