In The Now Weddings and Events
What can I say about the girls at In the Now Weddings, other than that they are so fabulous and the best investment you'll ever make?! When I first e-mailed Amanda about coordination, I knew In the Now Weddings was who I'd go with for day-of coordination. Amanda made me feel like a friend, not a client. She was so sweet and warm- and that was just in an e-mail! When I met Amanda, and her co-worker Miriam (who was my day-of coordinator) in person, they were even more awesome. They sat back, took noted, and really listened to my ideas, no matter how crazy! They did not force their ideas or preferences on me, but rather embraced my thoughts, wants, and ideas. While I worked with both Amanda and Miriam during the planning process, Miriam was my day-of coordinator and Alicia was her assistant. She was there when I needed her, even re-arranging her personal schedule to be at a venue walk-through with me (on a Friday morning, in downtown Los Angeles - what a trooper!). Miriam's level of involvement was perfect on my wedding day. I had voiced some concerns about our church (which was a little, well....cluttered). Miriam made that church look like a million bucks! Miriam did a great job of keeping my husband and I informed about any issues that came up without causing us to worry or stress out. For example, we'd hired the USC Trojan Marching Band for the grand entrance, but we were running late to our own reception! The band was getting antsy, as they had another gig to get to. Miriam called us to let us know, but convinced the band to wait just another couple of minutes until we got there. We made it and had a fabulous grand entrance, thanks in part to Miriam. Miriam was amazing at making sure I had everything I needed. At one point, I needed my checkbook. I asked Miriam to find it (I think I said, "It's in a bag...somewhere....in this building, perhaps?!") and she found it within minutes and took it right back to my bag for me when I was done! It was the little things like this that Miriam did to help that really made a difference. I could give many more examples, but she was always right there when I needed something. Miriam and Alicia took all of our gifts to our hotel room, which was right across the street. We returned to our room that night, expecting to find a pile of gifts on the floor. Nope! We returned to a candle-lit, rose petal covered hotel room, gifts stacked neatly in a corner. That was so sweet of the girls to do that- it was amazing, and Adam and I just stood there for several minutes, in awe of the room. Miriam and Alicia even took pictures! I loved looking at the blog, seeing all the moments and details I'd missed. Overall, I cannot recommend the girls at In the Now enough. They are quick, efficient, organized, nice, funny, professional....I could go on and on. I am so happy that I hired them for my day-of coordination, and you will be, too! Hire them immediately and watch your wedding troubles disappear! Thanks, girls, for all of your hard work!

Last Dance Entertainment
You absolutely cannot go wrong by hiring James Loram and Last Dance Entertainment to DJ your wedding. This was by far the best vendor I had! I'd seen James DJ at two other weddings- one I was in, and one I was a guest at, so I knew he was good and kept the party going. When it came time to hire a DJ for my wedding, I knew exactly where to turn. At our first meeting, James was SO professional. He had everything organized and ready to go. He will provide you a planning CD to help you plan everything from the grand entrance to the last dance. As someone who loves to be organized, I was in heaven. James arrived to our venue well in advance. He's also a licensed coordinator, and helped set everything up and made sure it all went smoothly. We ran late to the reception, but it was no problem for James. He lined us up and got the grand entrance under way within seconds. James played every single song we requested, and it seemed like he played them at exactly the right moment. Several guests came up to me or my mom or husband and raved about the music! It wasn't too loud during dinner- it was perfect. Guests could still talk and enjoy the music at the same time. The dance floor was packed all night....the one time it cleared out a little bit, James noticed, changed the song, and everyone came right back out! My family, who NEVER dances, was out there all evening- even my mom was raising the roof! I never thought I'd see that! But, if anyone could get my normally shy and reserved family out there, it's James. We all had a blast dancing together. My husband and I danced all night long- my feet still hurt from all the dancing we did. My words of advice: hire James. You will be so happy you did and your guests will, too. He truly is the best in the business and is so talented and fun. Your reception will be truly memorable, your dance floor will be packed, and you will be a happy bride. Just do it!

I highly recommend Shirvan Designs! I found Shirvan at a bridal show, after searching high and low for a florist who 'got' what I wanted. I didn't want traditional centerpieces. I wanted something edgy and different, and Shirvan delivered. We worked with Art, Joel, and Arsine. All were professional and obviously know what they are doing. About a week before our wedding, I met with Arsine regarding some concerns with the church and to come up with some ideas as to how to 'spiff' it up. She promised me she'd make it fabulous, and boy, did she deliver. I was amazed when I walked into the church that day. Our altar pieces were huge and gorgeous. Even the pew arrangements were huge, with more than a dozen roses in each of them! My bouquet was beautiful, and the bridesmaid's and mother's bouquets were, too. Shirvan transported all of the flowers from our church to the reception site. It was so nice not having to worry about dragging the flowers there ourselves. They managed to re-use all of the flowers from the church at the reception, which I appreciated. There were flowers all over the reception! They re-used all of the pew arrangements, all of the altar pieces- nothing was wasted. Overall, I cannot recommend Shirvan enough. We got so many compliments on our flowers- we had guests asking if they could take our centerpieces home! Thanks, Shirvan, for making our day beautiful.

Oh, how I loved the City Club on Bunker Hill! After looking at seemingly every wedding venue in the Southern California area, we were getting frustrated. They were all either too expensive, didn't have our date, never returned our calls/e-mails, made appointments and didn't show up- you name it, we dealt with it. Finally, I decided we should get married and have our reception where we met- on the campus of USC with a reception downtown. I found the City Club, and thought it was a unique venue. Something different. Kim Kelley, our event coordinator there, returned every e-mail I sent, every call I made, and at our first meeting, was so helpful and professional that I knew I'd found my place. The City Club is located at the top of the Wells Fargo building, and has a view to die for. The decor is modern, tasteful, and gorgeous. It has floor to ceiling windows that offer views of some of LA's most famous landmarks- Dodger Stadium, the Hollywood sign, the Griffith observatory- it's breathtaking. You feel like you are in a swanky club when you enter....well, I guess you are, really! At our menu tasting, the staff made us feel like royalty, serving us a delicious meal in a private dining room. And the food- the food is amazing. My husband said it was the best prime rib he's ever had, and our guests raved about everything from the cheese display to the miniature beef wellington we chose as one of our hors d'ouevres. Chef Derek is amazing. I could go on and on about Kim and the staff. They are so attentive, and treated our guests so nicely. We ran late to the reception, and Kim was waiting for us at the door and swooped us right in and up to the club, and our grand entrance was flawless. The City Club is perfect for any bride who loves Los Angeles, and wants something different, fun, unique and affordable for their reception. Honestly, the City Club beat out every other venue we looked at (Redondo Beach Library, Palos Verdes Country Club, La Venta Inn, Verandas) as far as quantity and most importantly, quality for our dollar. You can't go wrong with the City Club. It's a gorgeous venue that will leave your guests impressed! I honestly cannot think of one negative experience we had. Thank you, to all of the staff, and especially Kim Kelley, who created a reception that was beyond our wildest expectations. We'll never forget it!

Natalie B. Artistry - Professional Makeup & Hair
Natalie did my hair and makeup for my wedding, as well as a few of my bridesmaid's and my mother's hair and makeup. I did a trial with Natalie a few weeks before the wedding, and it turned out amazing. She did my hair perfectly and my makeup looked amazing. My only complaint was that Natalie was 45 minutes late on my wedding day, which is why I gave her four stars. I had e-mailed her a day or two before my wedding day, confirming a start time of 10:30 am.....which came and went that day. I started to get really stressed out, especially when I tried calling her only to get a recording saying she wasn't accepting phone calls! I was nearly in a panic by the time she arrived, and was about to call the concierge at my hotel for help in finding a place to do my hair and makeup. She never really said why she was late, just that she'd get us done and to not worry. She did, but I felt very rushed, and thought she didn't do as good of a job as she did at my trial, likely because we were so pressed for time. It still turned out beautifully, but I just didn't like the stress involved and wished I could've been a little more relaxed and enjoyed it more. I literally rushed out once I was ready, barely saying goodbye and thanks to her! I tried to e-mail her a few days after my wedding to apologize for that, but my e-mail to her bounced back for some reason.... Natalie is very talented, and I'd still recommend her, despite the small snag on my wedding day. I got a lot of compliments on my hair and my makeup from my guests, and I thought she did a great job on my mom and bridesmaids. In photos it looked great, too. Like I said, I do recommend Natalie. She is reasonably priced and talented at what she does. She is very warm and makes you feel comfortable. Thanks, Natalie!
