Jasmine Star Photography
Jasmine was the last photographer that my wife and I meet with. We had met and interviewed about a half dozen of the big name photographers and were pretty set on choosing another one until we met with Jasmine. We instantly felt a connection and comfort with her that we didn't sense with any other photographer. That might not seem very important (how much you like the photographer and feel comfortable with them) but it is actually one of the big keys to getting great photos of your wedding. She spent a lot of time getting to know us and in the end I think we chose each other (as she seems to do with all of her clients). We had two sessions with Jasmine. First was our engagement shoot. If you have the means I advise having an engagement session, you get to know her style and get used to being in front of the camera before your wedding day (when you will be under a lot of pressure and in front of a million cameras). Our session was at UCLA (where my wife and I first met) and we took photos for about an hour and a half in several different locations. Very quickly we were comfortable with her taking photos of us (being the object of a photo session was a little strange for me at first). The photos she took were amazing. She makes fantastic use of light and shadow, understands how to use the surrounding setting to tell a story, and somehow manages to get colors to almost pop off the photo. She really has a fantastic eye for photos. She and her husband JD (who is a fantastic photographer in his own right) were with us for the whole day from prep through almost the entire reception. JD took photos of my prep (and Jasmine took photos of my wife prepping) and then they together took photos of everything else. Somehow they managed to get photos of the ceremony and reception that seemed like they were right in our faces and yet I never really noticed them (except of course when we were taking the posed photos). And last weekend (less than 4 weeks after our wedding) we got a first look at our proofs (she also maintains a photo blog and she will have photos of your wedding up faster than you would imagine possible, ours was less than a week later). Across the board the photos are amazing (one is even going to be used on "The Knot"). In addition Jasmine is a delight to work with, friendly, warm, enthusiastic and gets you at ease when taking photos (the most important thing). She worked very well with all of our other vendors (notably our planner, video, and DJ) and everyone who met her at the wedding loved her. I could not give a higher recommendation for a photographer. A couple of suggestions. Think about how you want your photos set up before the day of the ceremony (or engagement shoot). It will make the photos better and everything will move more smoothly. Second, between the time we hired Jasmine and now (a little over a year) her career has exploded. She is quickly becoming one of the best and most well known photographers in the LA and OC area so if you like her work try to book her early because she may soon be in so much demand that she will have no more time. I am sure in a few years when we tell people who photographed our wedding people will say "You mean Jasmine Star was your photographer! Wow!!!".

It is impossible to say enough good things about Reverend Beams. We were referred to him by a DJ (who we didn't use) and picking him as our officiant was the easiest choice in all of our wedding planning (it took each of us less than 5 minute after meeting him before we knew). Both my wife and I felt an instant connection to him and through the course of several pre-marital sessions grew quite close to him. He is one of the most genuine, caring, and insightful people you will ever meet. And he took a lot of time getting to know us, what made us unique, and the important parts of our relationship, our families, and our friends. At the ceremony he kept me calm before the ceremony (no small feat), made everyone feel welcome, was funny and wise, and made the ceremony uniquely about us. Everyone I talked too at the wedding loved him (several said they wished that he had been their officiant) and I am sure we will be sending him holiday cards for the rest of our lives. If you do select him as your officiant be sure to do pre marital sessions as well (as many as you feel you need)! Don't go in with the intention of just planning out your ceremony, because sessions with him can offer you so much more. First, and most importantly, he does a great job of helping you reflect on your relationship, both the strengths and challenges. I think he pointed out to my wife and I how we can work to make our marriage stronger. Second, he gets to know you better and it will make your ceremony all the more personal. Third, he is one of the easiest people to talk to you will ever meet and you will come out of the sessions understanding yourself, your future spouse, and your relationship much better.
