On Location Beauty
I owe ON Location Beauty big time! After my hair/make up artist cancelled on me six days before the wedding, I turned to Project Wedding to help me out. My wedding was June 21 - apparently the busiest day of the year. Sherry was more than helpful and calming and hooked me up with Marilyn. Marilyn showed up early on my wedding day and was a pleasure to work with! She was very skilled, worked fast, and made my make up feel so light! There is definitley a reason why there are so many wonderful reviews for this company!

Beautiful grounds with a well organized staff! Getting married here is a breeze, you hardly have to think as someone is always telling you what to do/where to be. You don't need a wedding coordinator here. I loved it as did our guests....everyone was taking pictures of themselves before the ceremony...worth every penny!

Mary Me Bridal
I called them on a Tuesday and inquired whether they had a specific Anjolique dress in stock as a sample. They said "yes," and since they were the only ones in the area who had it, I decided to make the drive to Orange from Santa Monica, where I live. Low and behold, when I got to the store, they couldn't find it. After 20 minutes of searching, they said "Oh, we sold the sample a few weeks ago!" Great!Thank you for 5 gallons of gas I burned to get here and back! They suggested I tried on a few dresses anyhow, and I was helped by an extremely rude German woman. She didn't introduce herself so I don't know her name. After putting one dress on she commented, "Perhaps you should go to David's Bridal where they have sizes for people like you" I was stunned. I'm 6'0" and a size 14! Yes, I'm tall, but if I were a size 8 (and fit in the samples), I'd look anorexic since i have a large frame! Besides, last I checked the ave size of a woman in America is a 14! The German woman also refused to help me take off any of the dresses as she said "You're too tall, I can't help you!" So, I had to call in one of my friends who is a whopping five feet who managed to help me despite my height handicap. While she was "helping" me she also told me about the dress I came in for and commented "It was really pretty, the girl who came in for it had to have it even though her wedding isn't until 2009!" Wow, thank you for adding insult to injury!! After trying on 2 dresses, the saleslady sighed at the 3rd and said "do you really want to try on another one?" At that point, for fear of assault if made to spent one more minute with this beeyatch, I said no, got dressed, and left. This was the 4th store I went to, and I had never got such rude service, or made to feel so bad about myself. I would urge other brides to boycott, to let them know that it is NOT OKAY for sales people to make you feel bad about yourself if you aren't a perfect size 6 or size 8. The irony is that sales lady could stand to loose about 20 pounds herself. On a non-personal note: They also don't want to let you know what designer you are trying on because they are overpriced. Many stores I went to, wrote down what styles I liked (with prices), and gave them to me to take home. Marry Me Bridals keeps it on a card they keep in the store.

King's Hawaiian Bakery
I did a lot of cake tastings...I love cake! I went to Torrance Bakery, Great Dane, Rossmoor, For the Love of Sugar, and Mayers. All of them were disappointing, I must say. I thought I was really going to be blown away by the cake tasting experience, but I was underwhelmed. It was a lot of cake, but it was all mediocre at best... its like the dessert section of an all-you-can-eat restaurant...they look good, but taste crappy. I went with Kings Hawaiian Paradise cake, as it was the best (by far) out of all I tasted. There was a snafu with the delivery - I specified black ribbon and it got delivered with yellow ribbon. Luckily, one of my friends caught it, called them, and they were able to fix it right before the reception started... They are pretty easy to work with, and very affordable! Despite the problem with the ribbon, I'd recommend them. Why pay more for subpar cake?

I rented a limo from ULC for my groom and his family visiting from England. There was mass confusion, as the driver had no clue where they were to go. My sister-in-law said the first comment he made was "do you know how to get where we're going..." I had given ULC the addresses of where they were to go, but apparently he had no clue. The groom had to give directions, which I really didn't want to happen as it was supposed to be a relaxing ride for him...Also, everyone in the limo had to yell at him to stop as he tried to proceed toward the church (although instructed to wait in the lower parking lot) when I was standing outside before the ceremony. Also, the air conditioning didn't work so well, so all of the groomsmen were dying by the time they got to the church - not great for photos! Overall, this company was priced great and the reservation was very easy to make, but I can't recommend them for the reasons above.

Jenna cancelled on me six days before my wedding. She had a valid excuse, a family emergency, which was unfortunate timing for me but understandable. What I didn't like was that she said she would give me the contact info for her assistant and/or someone she works with and then never did. I was married in June, on a Saturday, so finding a replacement was a bit challenging with only six days. I found her lack of professionalism distasteful. Why say you are going to do something and then not do it? I'm sure she was having her own issues at the time, but don't make the gesture then. As for her actual work, I had a trial with Jenna and while I thought my hair was really nice, I thought my make up was really heavy and cakey looking. I dont think make up is her forte, she seems much better at hair. Also, if you are looking for someone really outgoing and fun, I don't think she is it. Conversation is kinda forced compared to other hair and make up artists who always seem to err on the colorful side...
