Rod and Leah were recommended to us by a friend of mine. At first I was a little wary because their prices were so low (comparatively speaking), but I quickly realized that low price does not necessarily equal bad quality. We met with Leah and were impressed with their work and appreciated that she did not try to push albums on us like other photographers we had met up with. Basically we just wanted the raw images...no DVDs, no albums, etc. They shot our engagement photos at Cal Poly Pomona. I cannot stress how AMAZING they came out. Their website does not do justice to what they really produce. My fiance and I are both amateur photographers, so we liked how we were able to suggest poses and get feedback from Rod and Leah and vice versa. They were so great and fun to work with, and we look forward to working with them again for our wedding in January. Highly recommended!

First of all, let me just say that most reviews I've read of David's Bridal anywhere were horrible, so I am surprised that all this happened. I'm a bride who has a one-track mind when it comes to long-term planning, so my bridesmaids had their dresses picked out in June (my wedding is in January 2009). I have 4 bridesmaids, and they all have 4 very different figures. I wanted them to pick their own style of dresses, but somehow they all decided on the same dress. Our consultant, Giselle, looked up the sizes in the correct color for us and found out the style was discontinued. Of course, we were all bummed, especially after Giselle did everything in her power to find the sizes in any color available. We went with the second choice dress. Fast forward about 3 weeks later. I was browsing around on davidsbridal.com randomly one night and decided to look at bridesmaids dresses for my mom (she's really tiny so I was checking all her options). Lo and behold, the discontinued dress was online! I thought it was a fluke, but when I actually clicked on it, the dresses (sizes and colors) were in stock! Ohhh I was annoyed and so were my girls! I stopped by the store on a Tuesday after work, fully expecting to turn into a bridezilla. Fortunately, the lady I spoke to, Tania, was actually the store manager. She explained that she could not do anything on a store level because the physical store and the online store are essentially two different companies. She gave me the number to the customer service line and also the name of the gal who manages the stores in the area, Allison. On Wednesday, I spoke to someone in the online department and she was very helpful. She forwarded my message to Allison and Allison contacted me directly about the situation. Later that day, she called me back to inform me that they WERE going to do the exchange! I was so freakin' happy, I started dancing around my office! I was totally fine about doing an even exchange, even though the new dresses were about $30 less than the first one we bought, but Allison said they would credit back the difference so we could get alterations and shoes and whatnot. Later that night, a rep from the Costa Mesa store called me to follow up on the details Allison and I had talked about regarding the exchange. It was official on a corporate and store level! I appreciated the very detailed follow up, which included when the new dresses were expected to arrive. Instead of making two trips down there (one to return and another to pick up, which was not a problem at all), she said I could just wait until they called me to pick up the new dresses and do everything at once. I feel bad for the brides who have had bad customer service from David's Bridal, particularly the Costa Mesa one, but I am SOOO glad to have worked with Giselle, Tania, and Allison!

Since my husband proposed to me in a photo booth at the Del Mar Fair, this was an absolute must-have for our wedding. We cleared it with Electra Cruises to make sure a booth was okay to bring on board, and WOOHOO it was! Mike and Kathleen showed up to set up the booth and to be of technical support. I felt bad as they looked a little bored, but at least they had each other. =) We were a little nervous that nobody would use the booth, but to our surprise, it was POPPIN'! Everyone, including our parents' family friends, were in there making funny faces and silly poses. I can't wait for the album and the cd of pictures! At $1300 for 4 hours (they were also offering 2 extra hours for free but our cruise was only for 4), scrapbook materials, unlimited double prints, and a DVD of images, we thought it was an amazing deal!

Since a friend of mine was doing makeup (her wedding present to me, hehe), I had to find somebody awesome to do our hair. I found Andrea and scheduled a trial with her. I had three criteria: - no super formal, stiff, wedding up-do - minimize my moon face - hair all up because I get hot. Given that criteria 1 and 3 nearly contradict each other, Andrea did an AMAZING job with my hair (it was a curly french twist of some sort). I didn't even notice what she was doing because we were so busy chatting. Once she finished, I immediately loved it. I booked her for my wedding in January, to do one bride, two moms, 4 bridesmaids, and 4 flower girls. I don't know how, but she did us all in about 3 hours (starting at 5am...omg)! No one's hair moved the entire day. My bangs did drop, but I already knew they were because they have a mind of their own. Thank goodness for the 8 billion bobby pins in my hair-- I was able to pull one out and secure the crazy bangs. My hair was so securely in place that when I went to take out everything later that night, my hair moved probably half an inch down. How's that for in place! I'd totally recommend Andrea to anybody who is getting married. The best part (other than that she does a great job) is that she comes to YOU, so you don't have to worry about getting all your girls together and waiting for everyone to finish before you continue getting ready.

Awesome price for the awesome custom cake design! Hubby and I were looking for a baker who could make us a mango cake with fresh mango. Naturally, we tried to find someone Filipino (we are Filipino as well). To my delight, Rowena also made ube cake! We scheduled a tasting with her and fell in love with how light and delicious everything was. When she asked for our cake design, we joked by showing her a cake that looked like a stack of luggage (we love to travel), not knowing that she would actually agree! Needless to say, we didn't need to visit other bakers, because Rowena was the one! She even told us to send her travel stickers that she could print on an edible printer and stick on our suitcases. The day of the wedding, she delivered a flawless cake (see my profile picture) that our guests absolutely LOVED. In fact, hubby and I didn't even get to eat a slice. =( We got back and everything was GONE, since people had gone back for seconds and even thirds. We had 150 guests and ordered 190 portions; that should tell you how much people loved it! Our flavors were mango and ube in different layers, with a white chocolate buttercream frosting, and fondant. The next time I have a party or something, I'm ordering cake from her just because. :)

Despite hearing random horrible reviews from brides about Electra, we had a wonderful experience aboard the Crystal (although I believe it is now the Eternity). I worked with Lorraine at first. She met with my husband and me and worked tirelessly answering my endless questions about bringing extra things on board (photo booth, roast pig, Filipino beer, etc). She went on leave halfway through my planning and Heather took over my account. Heather was equally amazing and very helpful! Our day-of coordinator was Renee, who my parents especially loved. She was such a joy to work with, even serving us food and drinks so we wouldn't have to stand in line for the buffet. She even helped us out at the end by taking all our centerpieces and putting them on one table so everyone would have an easier time grabbing them on their way out. Our guests loved it and gave us many compliments on the food and how beautiful the boat was in the 75-degree weather. AMAZING! We didn't even need decorations; the scenery changes in every picture we took. I liked how everybody, young and old, found something to do. The kids had a blast; we had coloring books and crayons ready for them in case they got bored but they didn't even need it! Running around the yacht was good enough for them. The Crystal is an ADA-approved yacht, with a wheelchair lift for my grandmother and an elevator for our not-so-able-bodied guests-- heck, I even used it because of my giant dress! All in all, I HIGHLY recommend Electra Cruises! They made our wedding day truly something to remember, and not in a bad way!
