King's Hawaiian Bakery

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I've tried so many awful wedding cakes in the past (I'm looking at you, Torrance Bakery) that I didn't want to mess around for my own wedding. That's why we decided to order King's Hawaiian Paradise and Chocolate Dubosh cakes and everybody loved it! The prices are beyond reasonable too. We went with a sakura blossom decoration, which looked very pretty and delicate.

Wayfarers Chapel

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
When we first stepped foot on the Wayfarers grounds, we knew it was for us. It's as beautiful as everyone says and more -- it's a place that must be experienced: calm and serenity fills the air, and the small glass chapel makes for an intimate, engaging setting. Yes, it's rather expensive and they will kick you out of there as soon as your two hours are up. But it's entirely worth it. The rate includes a wedding coordinator, who will coordinate your ceremony and determine the ceremony program. For an additional $350, you can elect the "candlelight" option, which includes candlelit sconces on the aisles and your choice of musicians: harpist, male or female vocalist, organist, and/or flutist (i think). We chose Dorothy Victor, the harpist, and who played beautiful music that we chose during a personal recital that she held for us two months prior. Dorothy is a consummate professional!

Zenia Photography

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I discovered Zenia through the now defunct labridezilla.com when she was just getting started in the wedding photography business. Even back then, it was evident that she had raw talent from looking through her portfolio and observing the strength of her technique in challenging low light conditions, a true test to gauge photography skill. Zenia has always been super responsive to our emails and phone calls. She even came early on the wedding day and seemed to be everywhere at the same time, remaining calm even when we weren't, capturing moments here and there, and constantly thinking of creative poses and angles. Her turnaround time is very quick; she processed our wedding photos and created an online slideshow for us in only three weeks. She is truly a standout in an extremely competitive business and I also give her my wholehearted recommendation.

Boulevard Florist Wholesale

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
When I decided to do my own wedding flowers for my October wedding, I thought my only option was to purchase my flowers at the LA flower mart, which is a big pain because it takes a hour to get there from where I live, not to mention the hassle of parking and having to take time off of work. Then I heard rave reviews about Boulevard Florist and I had to check them out to see if they were for real. They are a GODSEND. For prices that are the same or even LESS than the LA flower mart, you can place a custom wholesale order with them, complete with specific types of flower and colors. There's no minimum, either. All they need is a week's notice and they will notify you if the color/type of flower you want is unavailable. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind and the shop is open everyday from 7a to 7p with shorter hours on Sundays, so you can drop in practically whenever you want. I highly, highly recommend Boulevard Florist, especially if you are thinking about doing your own flowers.

ECHOUMAKEUP MAKEUP & HAIR STUDIO {AIRBRUSH / HAIR EXTENSION}

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Elaine and her two associates did makeup and hair for seven of us ladies, including myself (the bride), and finished on time despite being half an hour late. I was thrilled how beautiful, perfect, and amazing we all looked! She has the most magical hands!!! In addition, she takes her time to make sure her work is flawless, something I also noted during the trial run. You want someone who cares about the details. Although one of the earlier posters complained about Elaine's dishonesty, I found out that Elaine was quite the opposite: very honest, clear, and consistent with her pricing policy. All MUAs will charge extra for travel and Elaine is no exception. Elaine cut me an extremely good deal for the number of services I requested; no other MUA with comparable skill can compete with her and I did my research. One of the best things about Elaine is for a $100 deposit, she will lend you pearl and/or diamond hair pins of your choosing, hair pieces, veil, and a full touch up kit. She returns the deposit as soon as you return her things. Also, the BM makeup service includes fake eyelashes, something that many other MUAs consider an add-on. If you want excellent value for truly excellent service, CALL ELAINE.
