We got married the day after Thanksgiving at home on the Big Island of Hawai'i to my hot and sexy husband Mark Miraglia.  We had approximately 160 guests for our fantastic day from over 8 states and 2 countries.  Our wedding ceremony took place under the famous Milo Tree on the grounds of the Mauna Lani Hotel & Bungalows at Kalakuipua'a in Waikaloa, Hawai'i. Followed by the reception on the front lawn at sunset.  Mauna Lani Hotel is too much for words..it is truly a magical place and those who have been there know it's a well kept secret for a reason!  Customer service is #1, the attention is in the details, they support local Hawaii business which gives you the best access to local foods, and the staff is what the Aloha Spirit is all about.

The weather is fantastic in the Fall in Kona, low humidity and cooler than the summers (little chance of afternoon  Hawaiian showers also).  Very sunny and cool compared to the summer months.

Lighting was key for this sunset into evening affair and I would highly recommend Hawaii Event Lighting.  If you ever dreamed of having those weddings that look like what would be in the wedding mags, Hawaii Event Lighting can step it up a notch for you and make any venue look AMAZING!  They are a local business and have the professionalism and touches like of an established mainland company who have done high end venues.

Our entertainment was provided by Hot Lava 808 Entertainment who was a one stop shop for me.  They were able to provide a Hawaiian slack-key musician for our ceremony and pupu hour, hula dancers during dinner and the cake, and then turned up the heat with the Hot Lava Sexy Ladies for some live dancing to 60's, 70's, 80's and then some.  It was such a fun FUN night, one I wished would never end.

Ladies: for hair and make-up, you must realize that if you are not from the Islands you have NO idea how the humidity will not only affect your hair style and make up but how long it will last through the night.  I went with Ginny M. at Innovations Salon in Kailua-Kona. She is a local gal who KNOWS various skin tones, has an amazing attention to detail and understands the local climate.  She did my hair, put in my temporary hair extensions, and did my make-up which I didn't not have to touch up ONCE the entire venue (she came to the hotel for hair/make-up).  No shiny forehead, no hair being flat or blown out by the wind, and I didn't look like I had caked on make-up (especially during the day with the sun was still bright).

Photography: Toby Hoogs is phenomenal! He has done very small venues to very large corporate venues including print work and travel work.  He is a local boy also who knows how to maximize the hawaiian backgrounds and mixes it with a little moden journalism photography to help make your photos timeless and unique.  He is well worth the money because of his experience, laid back persona, and professionalism.  He has this really nice ability to be very transparent before, during, and after the ceremony/reception but captures all the important shots of your special day.  We hardly noticed him there yet we had amazing pictures of our special day.

Floral: We used Watanabe floral in Kamuela.  They have some fantastic floral (amazing orchids and local items) and what they don't have they can order for you.  They were very nice, very affordable and were able to deliver my floral to our hotel at the Mauna Lani and the flowers lasted longer than our stay in Kona for a number of days.
