The Brown Box IS doing our cake and I just can't wait to see the final creation. She provided samples of some flavours for us and I just had to share cuz they are sooooo ka-yuuuttteee!
The picture does NOT do it justice whatsoever!
She also did Amaretto for us which was also DELISH and Coconut was aiight. So we are thinking of one layer of each flavour - chocolate, red velvet and now the choice is between Amaretto and Caramel.
I reeeeeeaaaaaalllyyy love cake! So I enjoyed every bit of this tasting...ooohhhh yeah. Plus I had enough to share with my mom, stepmom, brother and one of my sisters. We have to confirm how the cake will look but I'm thinking silver and rectangular.
Somewhat like this...but not so dark, and ours will be rectangular and no flowers in the centre.
We're thinking of this cake topper to reflect our personalities....
and this modern script initial represents the style of the reception (and us)....but Tricia from The Brown Box said we would figure it out. ;-)
We are using this cake stand, except we're going to fill ours with more stuff in our colours - silver sparkle, plum and cobalt blue.
I don't know how anyone could not like cake but that's not our story....cuz we both do!
Well this week I must say has been very reassuring....things have been falling into place day-by-day. It began with a very interesting trip to a Bridal Expo over the weekend. Even though I didn't win the make-up makeover from a popular MUA, or get a fantastic price on our rings (my hubby-to-be insists on replacing my engagement ring) but I oogled over the Chivari chairs at one particular vendor's display, that I soooo want for our garden-styled reception. They were offering a wedding giveaway to the tune of US$4000+ and I was intent on winning it. About two weeks ago the same vendor had the same giveaway but with no success. I always say things happen for a reason and I abide by this belief.
I called the vendor on Monday AND Tuesday, even emailed them (as they requested) but they still had no prices for some of the items I was enquiring about. So I picked up myself and drove to their office. Got lost but eventually found them. They are in the process of renovating so their stockroom and office was in a bit of chaos. Needless to say I wasn't able to view their selections as I wanted but they showed me pictures of events and set-ups they did. While I was chatting with my Rep, a fellow bride, the owner came in and jumped in our conversation. I mentioned to her that I emailed them and the other two ladies in the office all laughed as they were laughing at it. I joked in it that I was the winner of the giveaway and I am sure they tried to contact me but I missed the call.....lol. They called me the "hehehehe winner". She (owner) then unveiled the best news ever to me, outside of being asked to marry the love of my life - if I use them as my rental company, they would award me with one of the giveaways! I would meet with their decorator to give him our concept, he would do a mock-up of a table and upon my approval - bring it to life! Also she referred me to a well-known restaurant that I know have been getting rave reviews but have had no personal experience as yet. She volunteered to negotiate on my behalf for staff and catering. Obviously I was elated! Left there smiling from ear to ear.
* okay I caught my breath * hehehehe
Next step - I had a make up trial a month ago with a friend who does make-up. Only to be informed that she was booked on that same day for the second instalment of an Indian wedding...I was crushed. MUA needed - asap. I had gotten quotes from one of the best but her prices were throough the roof. I mean I know she's worth it but still I didnt think it was fair to spend that much on just me. An old friend of mine who is also one of the top MUA's in our country I tracked a number down for her. I first told her it was in South, she shrieked...Informed her it was a Sunday and then she screamed...she asked me for a day to think about it because she doesn't work South for just one face, AND she usually reserves Sunday for her daughters. About one hour later she called me back "ONLY CUZ OF YOU!!! lol" I told her my Matron of Honour would have her face done as well, so it would be two faces. (When I was relaying the story to my mom she wants her face, and my godmother's too). Another icing on this very sweet cake is her price for both mine and my MOH's face totals the price of the initial MUA AND her trial is free compared to a very hefty pricetag on the other!
Yesterday my hubby-to-be was told that his striking Dark Grey Shark skin suit was delivered to the store (Patricia's South) early!! He prefers that I don't see the finished product before the wedding (even though we both saw it at the store and he tried on the jacket). He was not impressed in the least that he would not be allowed to see my dress prior to the big day. His female family members and friends all shouted at him saying that it was bad luck. Only then did he agree....begrudgingly. Hehehe...
Tonight as I left the movies, I received three email messages saying that my bridesmaids and MOH's dresses have arrived!!!! They were scheduled to arrive in about 2 weeks. Even though I am not in FL to go view them and approve them, my fiance has agreed to handle this in my absence. Guess he could make arrangements for his suit while he's there as well.
These Dessy dresses will be featured in various colours for my ladies.
I must say if the following months ahead continue along this path I am going to enjoy all four of them. :-D
Hi PW peeps! It's Sunday...so hope everyone has a productive week ahead.
Well!!! It was a typical Saturday morning speaking with my fiance long distance on the phone when I happened to count the months till August and shrieked - FIVE!!?? There I was comforted by that extra month only to learn that it EXISTS NO MORE!!! Where did it go?!!! Hehehehe
Anyway, I went into full Planning Mode despite my fiance's reserved demeanour about the preparations. I gave him the "I'm diving in with or without you" announcement. He has specific ideas but he doesnt quite grasp the urgency of sharing them in order to make it final. Am I the only one dealing with this sort of behaviour? Im touched that he prefers it romantic over crazy fun but just a little less dragging of feet when it comes to making up his mind and a lot more confirming details.
One thing I have realised (with his help) is that visuals help....so when I ask him questions on choice, I accompany the question with an email with the various choices in front of him to see. Success!
Wow! This week has been so difficult to plan a wedding while grieving the loss of my dad. It's been four months now he suddenly passed. He was the source of most of my support and direction in life as a whole. When I told him the news of our engagement he was soooooooo happy and excited, of course this came after his joke. Although, to be honest he wasn't that keen on the suit idea heh heh.
I know he's around and guiding me in his own way but it's still very trying to move like I don't miss him being here with me...I am so happy he was able to chat with my fiance and give me his blessings on our union. I know he approves of this step so I am not worried.
My fiance and I are in a long distance relationship so the option to reach out and dive into his loving arms is not readily available. However a phone call just isn't the same so I have to dig up the inner strength to rise above this low period, on my own....not without a few tears first though.
So my fiance sent me a voice mail msg he received yesterday saying that he and I won a $100 gift certificate as well as 2 other gifts, all I had to do is call them back for more info. Has this happened to anyone else? Well I found it mucho suspicious so I googled it and sure enough there it was in front my face that it was a scam. Either you have to go sit and listen to a 2-3 hr "presentation" about buying into something or we have to pay to receive the supposed "gifts".
So Miss Nikita from National Health Styles....try your best eh! I don't have the time to waste! .............back to planning!!! :-)
Yesterday marked the 2nd stage in making my wedding gown a reality - The Draping. Oh my word! I cannot express what a revelation it was watching the fabric being draped on the mannequin. I must admit that I wasn't too sure how the dress would look. I bought the white and silver lace and the silver as the underlay on my own, with my stylist on the cellphone (long distance might I add, lol). Sidenote: LOOKING FOR FABRIC IN MIAMI? GO TO CAROL'S FABRICS, DOWNTOWN - lovely selections without a doubt!
Okay back to the subject at hand - the dress! Is anyone else making their dress or have I just stepped back into the Twilight Zone? Given, I tried on gorgeous dresses at about 3 bridal shoppes but I never felt like I found "THE ONE". I attached some pix just for the curious ones out there to see what I saw on my "travels" hehehehe.
I would keep updating as my process goes along but for now, I am happy and contented. Later on I would upload pix of the actual dress but for now I would show you all The Wannabe Ones :-)
This was the only Silver Gown that I found on my Dress Hunting but as lovely as it was, it still wasn't THE ONE. I must say Patricia's South Bridal in Fort Lauderdale has a splendid selection of gowns. The service is impeccable and all I could have asked for to improve my experience was a cup of hot tea! Hehehe no but seriously it was a wonderful experience.
Okay I would add one more hehehehe This one I found at Victoria's Bridal. Was a close favourite but still ..sadly not THE ONE.
