My fiancé and I recently wed and opted to have the reception at Club of Knights, one of the venues offered by Fetes and Events. When we first signed the contract, I was impressed: Juli, who sold me the package, was beyond professional. She was impeccable. Unfortunately, we were running with all wedding costs and were left with a tight budget. My package didn't include an Event Coordinator; however, it did offer a Wedding Liaison for the day of. Throughout the entire process, Karla was great at helping me answer all questions and concerns. The week of the wedding I was in a frenzy. The DAY OF THE WEDDING, at about 5pm (Friday evening), as I'm getting ready to put on my dress, I receive a call from Karla asking for the remaining balance which needed to be paid off immediately. To make matters worse, I could only pay them with a Cashier's check or Money Order... Friday at 5 pm when all banks were closing and I was on my way to the church. This nearly ruined my wedding day.
Granted, it was my responsibility to finish any unpaid balances the final two weeks... but for accounting to demand payment THE DAY OF THE WEDDING was simply unacceptable. Not to mention they charged me an extra $350 for paying with a credit card. Looking back on it, I wish I wouldn't have hosted the reception with Fetes and Events. I really believe they could've dealt with the situation a lot differently.... Do they not deal with weddings on a weekly basis? Do they charge their brides the day of rather than calling them the week prior? The hors d'oeuvres were never butler passed… Rather they were left on the Hi-boys during cocktail hour; half of the guests were left hungry. The buffet staff left after 30 minutes of having the food served, leaving guests who wanted seconds to serve themselves. Service lacked throughout the event needless to say. Overall, for the amount of money we spent (we went about $4000 over our budget) could have hosted the event elsewhere. Brides beware.
