Well, my wedding is now over and I'm working on all those Thank You notes. Girls in the planning stages, enjoy it and don't get too stressed out. Now that it's over for me, I don't know what to do with myself, so I want to help others plan theirs.

My wedding was in Houston, Texas, at The Tuscany in Garden Oaks. It is an Italian-themed venue in the Heights-area of town. It just opened in June, and I thought it turned out beautifully.  Both the ceremony and reception were there. My big day was Sunday, August 31, 2008. We chose that date because it was the day before Labor Day. Most people would have off work on Monday, and so we could get all the discounts from having a Sunday wedding. We got even more of a discount from our venue & caterer for having the wedding at noon.

My colors were pink, black, & white. Bridesmaids wore black dresses with a pink sash and carried a bouquet of hot & light pink roses. The invitations and cake were pink and white. There were pink table covers and centerpieces of pink roses and gladiolas. We had a candy buffet of pink, black, & white candies. Guests could fill up chinese take-out boxes of candy to-go. The candy buffet was a huge hit! We had a brunch-type meal that included: cheese, crackers, & fruit for snacking, roast beef carving station, belgian waffle station with various toppings, eggs benedict with cajun crawfish topping, & mashed potatotini station with various toppings (regular & sweet potato). We also has a coffee station with 5 or 6 different flavorings guests could use in their coffee. The wedding cake was Amaretto Cake with amaretto filling and raspberry jelly. The groom's cake was decorated for the University of Houston and was Chocolate Mocha cake with a layer of mocha and a layer of white chocolate filling. If that wasn't enough cake, we also had some cupcakes...strawberry with cream cheese icing and chocolate with raspberry icing. The groomsmen wore black tuxes with a pink vest and tie to match the bridesmaids, so cute! My dress was ivory so the groom's vest was ivory to match. My bouquet had greenish-pink hydrangea and different shades of pink roses. Oh, and alcohol...we had beer, wine, and frozen bellini's. I think that covers most of it!

We invited about 190 people and 135 RSVP'd. I think about 110 actually showed up.
