Groom's Wedding Band: Easy we picked out a tungsten band that looks awesome on his hand. It is completely scratch-proof and indestructible. The only thing is that it cant be resized, but the scratch-proof bit was very important to us. Hes had it for over a year and gets complements on it and its been through so much and still shines and looks great. The price was decent and the service in this store was very nice.

Heart-shaped (wine) bottle toppers. Inexpensive, decent/good quality, arrived quickly and easy to order. I received 120 wine bottle toppers from efavormart.com at a price of about 1.35 per item, which was much cheaper than I found anywhere else for wine toppers. The guests loved them, and they came wrapped in a gift/display box with a silver ribbon tied around each.

I couldnt find a gown I loved anywhere, but I think it came down to price. I wanted to find one under 500 or even under 700, but none were really exciting me. I went to many stores with my mom and just wasnt thrilled. I tried Betsy Robinsons one day and felt embarrassed when I saw their info form suggested that the cheapest price range you might be budgeting for was twice what we wanted to pay. When the lady came to assist us she informed us we could only afford the sale rack, so we looked there. I tried on a few dresses, and the assistant was quite nice, still I felt a bit out of place. I found a beautiful dress but it was out of our budget by a lot They encouraged us to rush order it which we did but then they never called us to tell us it came in. I called at the end of July and was told it had come in 2 or 3 weeks earlier, and I was on a short time frame! They claimed to have sent out a card to my address to tell me it came in, which was odd, because I never received anything and I dont know why they wouldnt have just picked up the phone and called, seeing as they had my cell number. Anyway the dress was beautiful but we did pay over $400 more for the dress in the store than it would have cost if wed ordered it online. Thats hard for me to swallow. They did pressure us to put a deposit on it on the same day and my mom caved even though I wanted to go home and think about it. I wasnt as upset about overpaying for that as I was about the alterations they did, however. I dont really recommend this place unless you have a lot of money to spend and dont care much about service. They had gorgeous gowns though. Since I purchased my wedding gown there, I presumed that they would know best how to alter it and would ensure they did a good job based on their high-end pricing. Unfortunately they were difficult to schedule around, didnt call me to cancel or change an appointment when problems arose, and left me waiting at the time of my appointments for up to 40 minutes before seeing me. The seamstress pricked me several times, sewed the hem such that you could see the crinoline below (I had to point this out and they had to then hem the crinoline in order to fix the problem, they didnt notice it, but it was obvious), and more. The dress was supposed to be completed for my final fitting and I had my bridesmaid and mom drive from > 45 minutes away each to come help learn to do the bustles and when I came in they didnt even know why I was there.. the dress wasnt hemmed, the pins were partially missing where theyd fitted me the previous time, and there were no bustles. In fact it seemed theyd forgotten it all together. According to them, some pins fell out and the seamstress needed me to retry on the dress so they could re-pin it to make sure it was done properly, but no one bothered to call me or let me know that Id need to come back. My wedding was in 5 days and I had to spend another night or two at the dress shop while I was exhausted and busy so that they could fix their errors. The hem was sloppy and you could see a jagged edge that they cut where they folded it under to do a bubble hem in the front. They only ever sewed in a little over half of the intended number of bustles and the girl couldnt even figure out how to tie it to show my mom how to do it. No one ever apologized for the wait or the mess or making us come back when they messed up. I went to pick up my dress 3 days before my wedding and they didnt have it steamed or pressed, though they said theyd do it for us while we waited. We waited 50 minutes while they took the dress to the basement to finish stitching up the crinoline, steam and press it, but they brought it back out in a plastic bag so we couldnt see it. Unfortunately when I saw it the night later, the night before my wedding, it didnt appear steamed or pressed at all. Moreover, one of the buttons had popped off while I was trying it on and they were showing us how to button it. The seamstress said she would fix the button and reinforce all the rest. Needless to say the button was still dangling from a thread and the night before my wedding I was standing in the hallway at midnight with a needle, thread, and crazy glue trying to fix my own dress. Very frustrating. On the plus side, following the wedding (where I realized the bustles were not completed and I had to drag my dress around holding it up all night), I wrote a complaint letter to the store and the owner did agree to a refund for most of the alterations and offer to clean it and finish the alterations and preserve it. While this is a good response, it doesnt change the fact that I had a lot to deal with through this company and it caused much stress and headache before and during my wedding. The gown is very important yet they treated it like a prom dress. I do not recommend this place.

Carmel Cove Inn
This place was wonderful, we had a combined bachelor/bachelorette weekend getaway with close friends including some from out of town. We stayed two nights at the bed and breakfast on deep creek lake during the summer, and it was perfect. The rooms were great, the prices were great, and everyone had their own space to get away to at the end of the night rather than cramming into a single motel room. We all had a beautiful home-cooked breakfast every morning included in our room rate, plus snacks and treats throughout the day, and free wine, beer, and port in the lounge whenever we wished. The managers even gave us some free champagne to toast our special getaway! We were able to kayak and canoe with the inns free boats, and they had a tennis court and mountain bikes and fishing gear for use as well. The guys rented a boat and zipped around the lake fishing and the girls went canoeing and shopped at a local festival. The innkeepers had a bonfire on Saturday night with fixins for smores and we bought meats to grill on their grill and had a delicious picnic dinner and sat around the fire eating, drinking, and playing guitar all night. It was a great time and I highly recommend it!

We found a gown we loved in a store that refused to tell us the name of the maker, and who was charging a lot of money and required us to rush order the dress, which added another huge expense for my bridesmaids. Instead we took a gamble, took our own measurements, and I spent a day and a half scouring the internet for the same gown. I found it at ebridalsuperstore.com and contacted them for more clarification just to ensure that it was the same gown. The customer service rep that I was corresponding with gave me immediate responses and was a great help. She explained the delivery process and was able to give us a good deal on the gowns so that my girls saved about $70 each. The only negative part was that they came smashed in plastic in a box and definitely needed a professional steaming, but the sizes were appropriate and the money they saved was more than enough for alterations and pressing.

Karen Rodkey Cakes
We met with Karen on the same day she returned from a vacation, as she was out of town until just a week or two before our wedding. We did wait too long to decide on our bakery but she said she could fit us in and she was recommended by our venue. Her prices were great compared to most and the delivery fee was low, which was an issue for us as many places in our immediate area were charging up around $100 to deliver to our venue, 45 minutes away. Unfortunately the down side was that her office / home was an hour and ten minutes drive from us. We drove out to meet her on a Monday night at 7:30 pm in order to design our cake. She was exhausted and uninterested. I tried to give her an idea of what our theme and colors were and she just nodded without offering any design ideas. I asked if she could make a cake in a certain shape and she asked me to draw it, which I could not really do (Im no artist!) and rather than offer to work off a picture or anything I could find online I just gave up on the idea and moved on she showed us some books of photos of cakes shes made. She did not give us any pricing information, or even give us an intro to cakes like, this is how big youll need for that many people, this is how many tiers you can get, heres the guidelines, etc. It was the only bakery we met with and she provided us with no guidance whatsoever. We felt awkward and were tired too and stressed with our deadline for the wedding coming up and decided to just get it over with. She provided us with no samples of cake either, even though she was baking while we got there, so she could have prepared something for us to try. Clearly she was overworked but that didnt mean we should sacrifice our service for our wedding. In the end I figured we would get a 3 tier cake, had to guess at the flavors and request that she put a Greek key design around the base of each layer in blue, which was our color. I asked what should go on the top and she said nothing was necessary, so I suggested our monogram be up there. I asked what other decorations would work with that and she said simple is fine, clearly trying to avoid having to do any extra work. In the end our cake was uninspiring and did not look like it was worth over 350 dollars. The key design was done by hand and looked fine, as was the monogram, but it really looked kind of boring, without any other decorations. Thankfully our florist put petals around the cake. The cake was apparently tasty, so we had that and the price going for it. If she wasnt busy I guess Id recommend her, but Id say its a gamble.

Billy Zee has done the music for many a family party, graduation party, wedding, etc., in our family. He also djed my sisters wedding 4 years ago and my grandmothers birthday this past year. It was probably the easiest part of planning our wedding because I was so indecisive I couldnt figure out all the songs we wanted played. I was able to wait until two weeks before the wedding to send in my planning info.. I had picked some songs online using his planning tools, got suggestions from him for ceremony music (he also did our ceremony which was outdoor) and everything went really well. He set up everything without me having to worry at all, pronounced everyones names correctly, and kept everyone dancing! He played a complete mix of songs and mixed them well so that young and old and every one in between were enjoying it. He played one set that had literally everyone up and stomping and swinging around the room. It was fabulous. He did the introductions and what was needed but didnt talk for ages on the mic like some DJs like to do and cause people to groan. He made sure it was all about us, and that was perfect. Highly recommend.

Every Bloomin Thing
Judy was very kind and worked with us at last minute. We picked a bridal bouquet from a booklet and asked her to design a number of corsages, boutonnires and bridesmaid bouquets for us. We also wanted centerpieces but couldnt afford to spend much per table, so we provided her with tall cylinder vases and colored beads, and she put a single orchid in each glass and arranged the glass beads and also rose petals around the table with candles we provided. She did this for a decent price, however I dont really feel we got a good deal on the flowers. We spent a lot more money than intended, and the bouquets were not large when they arrived. I believe we paid something like $75 per bridesmaid bouquet which were hand tied (but not calla lilies or anything super fancy) and they were tiny. The other problem was that although the flowers were pretty, they bruised and fell apart within a few hours. I realize our wedding was in the summer on a warm day but this really was upsetting, that my grooms boutonnire was crumbling into pieces during our first dance, and all the corsages looked 5 days old by the end of the night and had to be thrown out. My bouquet survived best of everyones, but I wasnt wearing it. I thought going through the florist would be best but honestly Ive gotten better condition flowers for prom that lasted all night and they were cheaper, too!

Laura was great, and agreed to work with us even though it was not the most convenient time for us. She met with us once and planned out our wedding ceremony. It was so easy and the ceremony was beautiful. She added lots of personal touches about the way we met and the family loved to hear it all. She also added several unique ceremony pieces that we will remember forever. She was very kind and we didnt feel like we were being treated like just another job. She worked with us by sending the ceremony draft back and forth a few times and revising anything we felt we wanted in it, and the response time was very fast. I highly recommend her. Lots of complements on the ceremony!

I had not-even-shoulder-length hair that I tried desperately to grow even to that length before my wedding so that I could have a nice style. A month before my wedding I met with Erin to get a trim because it was driving me nuts, and we talked briefly about a style for the wedding day. She showed me a few things we could try to do and I had shown her a photo of a hairstyle I saw that looked nice, and she sort of pinned my hair a couple places to imitate the look. She said it wasnt necessary to get a trial done which was a relief and saved me money and time anyway. The haircut was great in the meantime. On the wedding day she arrived on time early in the morning at my apartment and did my hair, two bridesmaids and the mother of the groom. The bridesmaids were pretty happy with their styles, but I dont know that they thought they were the best look theyve ever had. In photos they looked great and I thought they were very nice, but to be honest it was my look that was most important to me. I was so impressed with my style, I have never seen an updo on my that looked so good. She made my tiny amount of hair look amazing! It looked like I had so much hair! She twisted romantic curls into the back and gave me height in the front. It stayed put all night (so did everyones) and didnt hurt at all.. I was even able to get the veil in and out of the underside of the hair do (I didnt want to cover it because it looked so good). I was sad to have to take out all the pins and let it back down. The grooms mother wanted really big hair and was disappointed that Erin wouldnt style it exactly as she wanted, but I thought her hair looked better than Ive ever seen, so once again, maybe not everyone loves their look but if you are concerned you could meet with her ahead of time for a haircut or something.
