They definitely have a beautiful selection of gowns, and the sales consultant I worked with was so sweet and really took her time helping me in and out of gowns! As the previous review noted, be prepared for the list of numbers on the tags - they're actual prices!

Dori Anne Veils

( 3.0 / 5.0 )
I purchased a veil from Debra. It came in about two weeks, and she had it delivered directly to my house, which was very convenient. The only downside was that I thought Debra was not very friendly, and she doesn't have a set discount that she will give, so some people might receive more of a discount than others. On my first visit, she quoted me a price of $120 for a veil, and at the second visit (just 1 week later), she offered the same veil for $125. I know it's only $5, but there's still a difference, right?

Just seeing the name of this store makes me shudder. I had a horrible experience with both the manager and owner, Mickey and Laura, and I would highly recommend staying as far away from this place as possible. The sales consultants are definitely sweet, but in the event that you have to deal with a manager, for something like a price adjustment or receiving the wrong order, you will definitely regret stepping inside the store. The store also does things like using their own style number of dresses and veils, so that even after you buy your gown and veil, you still have to research the actual manufacturer's style number on your own (if you want to look for online photos, etc.). Their prices are also marked up by $100 or more than other nearby vendors. If you want to see a large selection of gowns, they have it, and if you also want to be treated like cattle and want to be shown absolutely no respect or courteousness, this is the place to shop.

This store is also known as Bay Area Bridal, just so you know. I wrote my review for them under that name.

Glamour Closet

I visited this store a couple of times in my search for a wedding gown. For the negatives - I felt like the owner and one of the sales consultants were just really eager to get me to buy a gown. They commented that every dress I tried on was gorgeous, which even my mom (and my mom usually thinks every dress I try on is "the one") disagreed with. As others have said, keep in mind that most sample gowns are sizes 8 and 10, so if you fit in this category, you're in luck. They do have a small collection of larger sizes and smaller sizes, but not many. Also, there is a stage area with mirrors where they bring you out to model your gown. The store allows for 2 people to try on gowns at the same time, so be prepared to share the stage area and have people from the other party staring at you too. I'm overly self-conscious, so this bothered me a bit. I also found a dress that I liked, but it turned out that with the price of the alterations, I could have purchased a new gown by the same designer for about the same price. Don't get me wrong though - they do have really great deals, but for this one designer, it was not worth it. For the positives, as mentioned above, there are some really great deals, and I was told by a sales consultant at Marina Morrisson (MM) that MM usually sends their samples over to Glamour Closet. MM carries couture gowns, like Reem Acra! These gowns are deeply discounted, and though they are samples, are in really good condition (from what I saw). In the end, if you're in the market for a couture gown but not couture prices, it's worth it to at least take a look. I would suggest visiting during the week, if possible, as I have heard that the wait can be long on the weekends.

Joanna's Bridal & Tailoring

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
Joanna and her husband were really helpful and super-nice. I personally preferred working with them than any of the other sales consultants. And Joanna has a really good eye for the types of gowns that will really flatter/suit your body type. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is for the limited collection of gowns they carry.

I was pretty close to buying my gown from this store because their price was better than others I've found (I submit a request for a gown price, and someone emailed me back with the quote and also offerred a significant discount if I ended up going with them). I decided not to because of the sales consultant that worked with me. I first visited them during a weekday, and the sales consultant was pretty nice, so I decided to return and have my friends take a look at the gown I wanted. The next visit turned out to be a Saturday, and it was pretty busy. Even though I had an appointment, the sales consultant kept walking in and out of the changing room, while I was trying to get into gowns, and she was running around helping other consultants. I would understand this treatment if I were a walk-in, but I actually made an appointment. The sales consultant also had this habit of whispering to other consultants when me and my friends were within a few feet of her (as though we couldn't see), and this wasn't just a one-time incident - she kept doing it! Quite rude, don't you think? Finally, as I was trying to decide on 1 of the 3 gowns I had tried on, the consultant fumed and said she couldn't wait around all day while I tried to make up my mind. That was it for me and that store.

Jira is the best! I recently had a hair and makeup trial with her, and she did an amazing job. I showed her one photo of makeup that I liked and several photos of hairstyles, and everything turned out better than I expected. She even took some time to recommend which products are best for everyday use.

Denon & Doyle Event Entertainment

( 1.0 / 5.0 )
Denon and Doyle is not worth the money. FI and I went to their showcase and were very impressed, so we decided to book them on the spot even though they were much more expensive than any other place we had looked at. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with their service on our wedding day. Our supposed MC made no announcements. As much as they kept hyping that the DJ would be able to work with any crowd, our DJ could not quite manage that. Several times we noticed everyone would be on the dance floor having a great time, then the DJ would completely change the style of music, and everyone would walk off the dance floor. Other problems: our guests mentioned that they put in requests for the DJ, but the songs were never played; we heard a bit of the Wedding March during our reception intro (that was not our requested song!); the first dance song started playing while our cake was still in the middle of the dance floor; and several times, they turned the mic up too loud so that it made that awful screeching sound, which startled everyone. Our DJs seemed inexperienced and were not coordinated. This is the one vendor that we thought we would have no problems with, but they turned out to be the only vendor that disappointed us.
