Joe and I met while attending college at Washington State University. Turns out, we actually lived next door to each other on Greek Row but didn't meet until the summer before our senior year. I was an Alpha Chi Omega and he was a Theta Xi. We had mutual friends, but somehow our paths never crossed. I had flown to Vegas for the weekend and asked my friend Neilan for a ride home from the airport. Not many people were there for the summer, so my options were very limited! Neilan told me he'd definetely be there, but when I got to Pullman, he wasn't there. I called him and he told me he was sending one of his friends to pick me up--something had come up and he coudln't make it. Joe pulled up after that and explained that Neilan asked him to come pick me up.
On the drive from the airport to my house, Joe says I "talked his ear off." I just had gotten back from Vegas though, what did he expect?!?! We hit it off immediately and we've been together ever since. Thanks for ditching me, Neilan!
After graduation, Joe got a job working for my dad at Columbia Analytical Services so he moved to my hometown, good old Longview, Washington. I'm thankful that he likes it here---I get to be close to my family! I work part-time in marketing....and looking forward to retiring in a few years to be a stay-at-home mom!
We're getting married! Joe proposed on September 13 and we're getting married on September 12, 2009 at the Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland, Washington. I can't wait! We've been through so much together including me being diagnosed with cancer last March. He's been amazing throughout everything and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
