Our story starts back to Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL 2009.

Jerrad and I were both in the same Graphic Communication class. We did not know each other except for an occasional glance, and he had helped me with some homework at one time.

It wasn't until a year later in October that we ran into each other again, at Sully's in Peoria. I was out with some friends, until I noticed Jerrad looking at me. He then came up to me and said

"Why do you look so familiar?" After we figured out that we both went to Western, we put the pieces together that we had a class together.

We talked and hung out with each other all night and exchanged numbers. We started to see each other everyweek, and started a casual relationship. December we decided to make our relationship official.

After graduation, the job market for me was pretty slim pickings especially with a lack of experience. My desperation for a job forced me to look out of the state. I had accepted a job at Ashley Furniture Industries in Ecru Mississippi. After only four months of dating I left the state of IL to pursue my career in Instructional Design, and assumed that this would cause Jerrad to end our relationship. I was wrong.

As hard as it was to maintain a still fresh relationship that had 8 1/2 hours between each other it made us stronger. We made great efforts to see each other at least once or twice a month. We would meet half way in Cape Girardeau Missouri and take short trips together. I knew in my heart that if we could make it through this then he was a a keeper.

After 9 months of working in MS, I knew it was time to move back home and find another job closer to home. It was wonderful to be back with Jerrad and my friends and family! Once I accepted a job at Caterpillar, we decided to move in together in an apartment. We lived in our cute two bedroom apartment for a year before we decided to buy a house in East Peoria.

We bought a beautiful 4 bedroom 3.5 bathroom house on Kaitlin court. Things felt like they were falling into place. Then one day after terrible flooding we came home to our home after a month of living there to find our house was now on the verge of a cliff. The whole night was a whirl wind of confusion, and evacuation out of house. I never cried so hard in my life. I prayed that if Jerrad and I could make it through this then we would be together forever.

With all the stress that we have been dealing with the house, and finding a new place, we took a vacation to KY with my parents to unwind. Jerrad suggested that we take a bottle of wine and cheese and have a picnic outside to watch the sun go down.

After the bottle was empty he stood me up and kissed me. I could hear him reaching into his velcro pocket, and my heart was pounding so fast and my knees were barely holding me up. He then knelt down and said "Shana Rose Severinsen will you marry me?" I screamed out "Are you sure???" "Are you kidding me??" "YES I will marry you!"

After all that we have been through, there is no one else that I would want to spend the rest of my life with. He's my best friend, my rock through the hard times, and the love of my life.

I cannot wait to start our married life together.
