I just thought I would add a post about my blog for any fellow blog readers out there! I am planning on posting lots and lots of DIY goodies and a play by play of my wedding planning. I'm a former bridal consultant and a current freelance graphic designer, and full time dork, so if anyone wants to come along for the ride, I would love for you to stop by my blog! Also, if you do decide to subscribe to my blog, let me know because I would love to read yours as well!
The BRIDE and GROOM
Hi there! I am a Dallas, Texas bride and I am about 6 months out (as of 3/10) from Wedding Day!! My name is Laura and my fiance is Russell. I love Russell more than I previously realized possible. I have an adorable mini-weenie dog named Tinkerbell, and Russell has a gorgeous siamese kitty named Dollie. The thought of our little family merging makes me excited and gives me butterflies of lovie goodness. We are a nerdy artsy couple. We are interested in politics, art, indie films, old films, most films :), animals, travel, japanese culture, vintage American culture, the Dallas Mavericks, and technology. I am a artsy craftster and he is a passionate gamer/sports buff.
1) Stay focused on Mr. Ninja (Russell), the fact that the only thing that really matters is that I am getting to spend the rest of my life with him, and that it is okay if not everything goes perfectly according to plan.
2) Personalize our wedding. I want to DIY as much as humanly possible, and as cheap as humanly possible while still being cool and classy.
Our budget is $10,000 for EV.ER.Y.THING. I think that is a great amount. I don't think it is reasonable for us to give a single penny more to an industry that has been blown out of proportion. I think if I DIY as much as I can and keep priorities straight then all will be peachy keen.
We will be joining hearts and lives at the Plano Centre in (you guessed it) Plano, Texas. It is a beautiful conference center that holds many different kinds of events. There is a gorgeous lit fountain in front of it. It has several rooms of different sizes and they provide catering in house which makes things ever so easy.
I ordered my dress on 3/25, and it is due in by 7/25/09. It is a beautiful ivory silk taffeta draped gown with gorgeous bits of lace delicately embellishing a few key areas by Allure Bridals. The back has pickups and lace with a gorgeous train. There are both buttons and a corset, lace up back. I used to work at a bridal salon. I went in to look at dresses and the owner said she knew right away what dress I would pick. I tried it on and fell in love. I tried others on, but my mind kept drifting back to number one. The shop owner is giving me a killer deal on it, and I can't wait to wear it!! It is strapless though, and that's not my thing, so I am knitting a shrug in teal to match our color theme to go over my arms. I might even make a beautiful flower to go on it too. I already got my shoes at DSW and again, got a GREAT deal. I knew I could get some pretty shoes and not spend a ridiculous amount. At $10, I believe I won that battle.
