the ricks say "i do"...

we were married at the lovely verandas in manhattan beach, ca. despite chilly temps (for california, anyhow) and high winds, we had the warmest, most memorable and heartfelt day we could have ever hoped for with our family and closest friends.

Ceremony Location - verandas, manhattan beach
verandas has a beautiful outdoor garden for ceremonies. it's a tad small, but it lends itself well to beautiful decoration for any color palette, and it has a great little fountain. also, it has a lot of foliage and flowers and a leafy archway, in case you don't want to spend too much on ceremony decor.
Officiant - alex choi
Reception Location - verandas, manhattan beach
the reception area at verandas is divided into two floors-- dining room on the first floor and lounge and dance floor on the second floor. at first i thought this would be inconvenient, but it helped to set the pace of the reception really well, and it's decorated beautifully. also neutral enough so that it would go with nearly any color scheme.
Caterers - new york food company
verandas is owned by the NYFC, a catering company in the LA south bay area. they have great service, amazing food (especially considering the volume at which it's produced), and great presentation.
Cake Creator - new york sweet exchange
the bakery arm of our caterers, they provided us with a delicious and beautiful looking cake! we couldn't have asked for more from our caterers.
Florist - be buds
taka, the owner, is ingenious in his floral designs. he was able to perfectly execute everything that i requested, and he helped me to develop the floral design of the wedding without being overbearing in providing his opinions. he was extremely helpful, very professional, and so accommodating. highly recommend him!
Photographer - jerry yoon
hands down the best money we spent on our wedding. jerry and ingrid are true artists in their photography, and they're great people to boot. we're so happy with our pictures, and couldn't have asked more from the people charged with capturing our memories. their work speaks for themselves, so to see more, go to www.blogjerry.com.
Videographer - well spun weddings
we haven't gotten our final product quite yet, but if it's anything like the samples on their website, we'll be more than happy. also, the videographer who came out to film our wedding was the nicest guy and totally unobtrusive. he wasn't in any of our wedding photos-- a big plus!
Disc Jockey - night life entertainment
devin was a great DJ-- totally professional and not at all obnoxious. he also was willing to go the extra mile when problems came up unexpectedly. our laptop wouldn't connect to the projector for our slide show, so he had someone drive a dvd player all the way up from orange county!
Invitations - sara siri
a good friend and a bridesmaid, sara is a recent grad of art center in pasadena. as you can see from the pictures, sara does amazing work. she was able to give us invitations, programs, and other collateral that had a cohesive theme, fresh design, and beautiful printing. we were so fortunate to have her as part of our wedding!
My Dress - beautiful day bridal
i got a great price on my pronovias dress, with a bunch of freebies thrown in! they let me borrow my veil and accessories (minus shoes) for free, and they even did my alterations gratis. they have a huge selection of dresses to rent and to purchase, and they can also create custom designs. be forewarned, though-- you might have some trouble if you don't speak korean or at least go with someone who does.
Bridesmaid Dresses - jenny yoo
gorgeous bridesmaids dresses, but my bridesmaids had a lot of difficulty in altering and wearing them. the dresses kept slipping down! nonetheless, the dresses came out beautiful in pictures and the bridesmaids looked fabulous!
Hair Stylist - andre's beauty salon
DO NOT RECOMMEND. despite everything working out in the end, we had a lot of problems at the bridal salon. they had to redo my MOH's hair 3 times because they kept giving her shirley temple curls and trying to pin her hair back like a little. also, i brought a picture of what i wanted my hair to look like, and the end product looked nothing like the picture. when i tried to tell the stylist that it wasn't what i wanted, she didn't understand why i was upset and kept telling me that what she created was better. =/ in the end, everything looked ok, but i was definitely not impressed with the customer service.
Makeup Artist - andre's beauty salon
although the hair was a disaster, i was happy with the makeup. it was natural and light, but held up for the whole day, including the fake eyelashes. would recommend this place for makeup, but definitely not for hair.
Wedding Coordinator - sara lehnberg
sara was the coordinator from verandas-- she was FANTASTIC. we were going to hire a separate day-of coordinator, but it was totally unnecessary as she took care of everything and then some. because she was so good, i was able to leave everything in her capable hands and do nothing more than enjoy our wedding and hang out with our guests. she was great at keeping everything on track, and she thought of everything that i would have totally overlooked. to me, sara was the best thing about having our wedding at verandas!
