So things are really shaping up, but I had a run around with getting an officiant. We tried to have a friend get ordained and marry us, but it turns out NY state really frowns upon not being married in a church or by an elected official. After a ton of leg work it turns out that we will be married officially and legally the morning of our wedding day at city hall by the president of the common council. Then we will have the ceremony at sunset as planned by our friend, it will be the ceremony that I wanted we just will have been legally married that morning. It's tough around here to have a different religion, we may be a blue state but they make it near impossible to buck tradition, I really didn't want a church wedding so this is our only other option and I'm okay with it. FMIL said it will just make a fun story to tell in the future!
Finally we have paid off the honeymoon! It's a cute little trailer built for two right off of lake Algonquin in the Adirondacks. It's called trailer-licious and I'm so excited, I may be looking forward to a nice vacation more than our reception!
Here it is:
Warning for the FI if you're snooping and see this I will be very disappointed!
Now that's out of the way, I have two wedding dresses. A ceremony dress and a reception dress; since we are having a pre-ception my mom thought it would be fun to get two dresses that way the ceremony dress will still be a surprise.
I still haven't found shoes, but I'm coming up with some great flower ideas.
Still need the officiant, but I have a hair stylist. I'm hoping to get the officiant in the next week or two, fingers crossed!
So just as everything was getting settled with the new job I get jury duty. It only took two days and I don't mind doing my civic duty, but I hate changing my schedule I'm a creature of habit. But in all the running around Fiance and I were able to pick out our invitations and continue to gather addresses. We also finalized our menu with the caterer and we're working on how much money is left for decorations and flowers. As of now the countdown stands at exactly 3 months, I still need an officiant, center pieces and other decor, a dress, and a hair stylist. Slowly but surely I'll get it all together!
Well I've been MIA for a while, and thought I would update. I just started a new job working with special needs individuals and while it's not the field I trained for, it's nice to be out working and helping people again. While I was training I got a letter in the mail stating that I passed the National Phlebotomy exam and received my license to work anywhere in the country with my NY certification! It's big news because now a lot of doors will be opening up for me to work hard and make really good money, and hopefully send FI back to school in the next year of two. As for wedding plans, things are coming along, the guest list is shoring up and now I'm running around like crazy trying to get addresses for everyone. And we picked out and put down a deposit on our wedding bands. My life is coming together, I'm so excited, finally all the hard work is paying off!
I was just noticing last night that we talk less about the wedding and more about our future marriage. I'm not a big party person, so I've been trying to learn to do this wedding planning stuff and we've been kind of learning together. But I find that we talk more about our life, future family, and home. And to be blunt I like it better that way, while it is fun to plan the party I'm ecstatic to have a partner to keep me grounded and our whole lives in the picture. I'm just feeling very blessed and wanted to share!
