How We Met:
Karl and I met on E harmony and started dating in December 2007. That's right....internet dating. Honestly though how else would we have found each other? We live an hour away from each other. Neither one of us are newbies to marriage as we've both been married before and both have children from those unions. However, he is absolutely my best friend hands down. We have so much in common it's scary yet we are still different enough to keep it fun and interesting!
We were at his house after going to our favorite place for dinner. We were just talking and he was getting very emotional. I couldn't really figure out why at the moment. Turns out he had asked my dad and my 9 year old son the weekend before for permission to ask for my hand in marriage. I love him for that!!! Anyway, he told me how much he loved me and how he couldn't imagine his life without me. He was crying which made me cry. I think I must have hugged him for ten minutes. The ring he gave me is absolutely gorgeous and is exactly the one I wanted.
We are getting married on July 11, 2009 in Katy, Texas. We are having our ceremony at my home church with the reception immediately following at the church. We are having 50 people with light hor d'eurves (hot and cold), wedding cake, and light background music. And we are having a candy buffet for favors. I'm so excited. I've seen other buffets and fell in love with the idea. Our colors are pink and orange-think azalea pink and orange sherbet. It reminds me of summer!
I can't even begin to say how much I love my dress. Just because I'm not a first time bride doesn't mean I didn't want to feel like a princess. Well this dress definitely fits the bill and makes me look thinner and bustier than I am. Can't beat that!
I found an amazing florist who uses Natural Touch silk flowers. They are the most life like and even feel like real flowers. Anyway, you can see by the colors they are perfect for our wedding. I can't wait to order them!
My First DIY:
I purchased my first 3 candy buffet containers and wrapped them with ribbon in our colors as well as double matting our monogram to the front.
Here are some cakes that I absolutely love:
We are still trying to decide on a topper versus fresh flowers but I definitely want the different textures on each tier and a square shape, preferably placed in different positions like the first pic.
