Aquinas College Banquet & Conference Center

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
As and Aquinas Alum my fiancee and I received a discount on their facility rentals, so we naturally looked into it as a way to save some money. Aquinas's Wege Ballroom is a beautiful facility and only cost us $600 for our reception. Their on staff Event Planner was an amazing help and their on-site catering was phenomenal and decently priced. Aquinas's grounds are also very beautiful and we got many beautiful outdoor photographs. I definitely recommend Aquinas as a reception site as it is very beautiful and the staff very helpful.

St. Mary Magdalen

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Since St. Mary Magdalen is our home parish it was obvious we would be married here. Since it is a Catholic church either you or your future spouse must be Catholic and you must complete their pre-Cana classes in order to hold your ceremony here. It is a lovely church and we got some beautiful outdoor shots before the ceremony.

Horrocks

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
The week of my wedding the florist we had chosen went out of business and not only did we lose our deposit we also had no flowers for the wedding! In a panic we began searching for a last minute florist and Horrocks floral department was the first to get back to us. We simply faxed them a copy of our original florist's order and they were able to replicate exactly what we wanted, on very short notice too! Our flowers turned out beautifully and I am so grateful to them for essentially saving my wedding day from a lot of stress and worry. Their prices are fantastic and they only charged $20 for delivery, which made the wedding day a lot less hectic. Their staff is wonderfully helpful and accommodating!

STUDIO 1 SALON

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
I had my nails and makeup done at Studio 1 the morning of my wedding and was fairly happy with the results. Their makeup artist was very competent and created a look that complimented my skin tone well and lasted throughout my entire wedding day. My only complaint was that the mascara she used was a bit chunky and I had to later wipe it off and fix it.

D2D Photography & Design

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Dan Deward, the photographer of D2D, was fantastic to work with. His work is beautiful and professional and we paid a lot less for what we got with him opposed to some of the other well known photographers in the area. He is very accommodating to your needs and even created a unique package for us so we got exactly what we wanted and paid for nothing we didn't.

Bridal Gallery

( 2.0 / 5.0 )
My budget for my wedding gown was not huge as it wasn't a major priority of mine. The dresses at Bridal Gallery are on the more expensive side, but they did have a lot of mid-range dresses as well. Shopping there I felt a bit neglected by the sales staff, whether because of my small budget, young age or other circumstance I am not sure. Their changing room area was small and awkward. I often felt as if I was in the way of other brides trying to use the same mirrors as me and the lack of consideration from the sales staff was a big turn off.

Our DJ from Unique Entertainment was very personable and lovely to work with during the planning stages. I really liked him after our initial interview and subsequent meetings to plan out our reception. I felt very confident in his abilities to act as an MC for our reception. At the actual reception, however, he did not follow some of the guidelines we had set up with him wile planning. He failed to play some of the songs we requested and played others we had explicitly asked him not to play. I still had a wonderful time at my reception but imagine it would have been even better had our requests been met.

Bilbo's Pizza

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Bilbo's Restaurant is a Lord of the Rings themed restaurant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The food is great and reasonably priced plus they have great bar staff and atmosphere. My husband had his bachelor party here and he and his friends had a wonderful time (at least what he remembers of it!).

Su Alterations

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
Even thought my bridesmaids purchased their dresses at David's Bridal we had them altered at Su Alterations on Kalamazoo Ave. because David's alteration prices were much too high. Su Alterations did a wonderful job for half the cost of alterations at David's Bridal. I highly recommend them for bridesmaid dress alterations but would be weary of having them do wedding gown alterations as they do not specialize in gown alterations but are more than able to alter more simple dresses. Only downside is that all staff is Asian and it was a bit difficult to communicate exactly what we wanted with them.

Davids Bridal

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I was reluctant to shop at David's Bridal initially as I had heard they had poor customer service but my dwindling budget left me with little other options. I definitely didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on my dress so I visited the David's Bridal on 28th street to see what I could find. As with any chain retail store, I found there were some consultants who were less than friendly but also some who went above and beyond my expectations. I loved that their sales people did not pressure you as in some of the boutiques I had visited. A sales associate who tells you you look gorgeous in every gown you try on is not helpful! The ladies at David's Bridal took my taste and body shape into consideration and helped me find the perfect dress. I also had my alterations done at David's and was very happy with their work.
