Bear Flag Farm

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Bear Flag Farm has been one of my favorite venues to work with as the Editor in Chief of Project Wedding. If I were getting married again, I would definitely consider this beautiful venue!

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Kristeen coordinated an event that I attended and she did an absolutely fabulous job! The wedding went so incredibly well, everything was so beautiful, and all the guests had a great time. I recommend her to all my friends and family getting married in the LA area.

The Nordstrom Wedding Suite

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Can I just say that nordstrom sales people are the best?? Wow! The sales person pulled like 10 dresses for me and found some accessories for the dresses I liked the best. And I went to the shoe department and the sales person brought out like 20 shoes... I asked for five, and then he brought out a ton more that he thought I might like. AWESOME!

The Spinnaker

( 3.0 / 5.0 )
The Spinnaker has a beautiful view of the ocean and the bay during the day. During the night the view is pretty dark though so you're left with what's on the inside. I thought about having my wedding here and met with Jeff, who was very nice and good about communicating via email and phone. I liked him and the other people who were there - they were very unpretentious and courteous. The decor needs a bit of work though... the carpet was a bit dingy and needs replacing. I also did not like how the bathroom is the first thing you see when you walk in.

Laura was very easy to work with. I sent her a very detailed email, filled out a few forms, and the order was mailed to me in 2 weeks. It looks beautiful!

All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Great and friendly service. The guide we had was a really nice laid back guy, very friendly, and told jokes all the way down the river. We rafted a class III-IV since we had a lot of beginners in our group. We were supposed to raft a Class IV+ river tomorrow but unfortunately the two rivers that were close enough to do the early morning drive were not raft-able. Greg and Roxanne both apologized even though it wasn't their fault the weather was bad, and are refunding us our money.

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Hands down the best pedicure and manicure in the entire Bay Area! I usually get a french pedicure here. BTW, they have free food on Saturdays! this place is super busy, so make sure to call for an appointment more than week in advance if you want to come in on the weekend!

Emma's Pizza

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Quite possibly the best (and most unhealthy) pizza I have ever had in my life! Our group included one vegetarian, one veggie-lover (myself), and two meat eaters. Everyone in the group was impressed.

Most of the pizzas are just ok in my opinion, but the standout is the chicken bbq pizza.

Classic Party Rentals San Francisco

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I had a great experience with Classic Party Rentals. Their warehouse is enormous and has tons of beautiful options to choose from. I ended up renting some silverware, napkins, napkin holders, and fancy red "Monaco" linens from them. The delivery went great, and the red linens made a huge difference in the overall look and feel of the reception decor.

Food Talk Cafe

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
I really liked their porridge, duck, and the shanghai dumplings. Quite possibly one of the best dumplings I have tasted in the bay area... they're supposed to be soupy on the inside, and this place gets it right.

Salt House

Fine Dining, Contemporary American in Union Square Located in Union Square's fancy shmancy Westin hotel, this restaurant is known for its trios. We went for my dad's birthday, and in true family fashion we tried to cover all our bases. Service was good, ambiance nice although loud since it's an open space to the hotel lobby, and the food was good. Ah, the food. I'd say it redeemed the more disappointing fine dining meals that I've had in the last year, thanks to the pastry department (even though their pastry chef is vegan...). Amuse: - sea urchin custard w/ dashi gelee + rice crispy ball things: buttery and smooth - fried crab ball w/ pickled vegetables: nice chunk of crab, but mine was soggy - eel on top of stuff I don't remember: fishy Apps: - (mine) American kobe + foie shabu shabu: I'm sick (I should really be asleep right now) so I wanted something soupy. It was aiiight - scallops: small! my sister and aunt liked 2/3 - watercress stuff: my uncle said it was just ok - foie: seemed like it was the winner at the table Shabu shabu, halibut w/ lobster pot pie in the background Entrees: - duck: I was surprised that in all 3 parts the duck was cooked the same way (seared), although one of them did include a confit. It was cooked very nicely though - juicy and tender. - halibut: big disappointment. I don't think fish should be poached! That reminds me of when Richard from Top Chef did his crappy sous vide salmon - Beef: I didn't try it, but my dad said it was interesting - Lobster pot pie: crowd-pleasing table-side presentation. Nice rustic copper pot with the pie crust, cut open, then plated meticulously in front of us. Compared to how it actually tasted... presentation wins out hands down - Lamb: I didn't try it, but my uncle finished it before I was even done with the second portion of my duck! breakfast for dessert, the "mission," frozen bon bons (hazelnut + chocolate, green tea + white chocolate) Desserts: THE BIG WINNER (their website has the current menus with full detail) - "Mission": the most incredibly silky flan, a tres leches guava cake, and a mole pudding (I could really only taste the Mexican chocolate so it didn't really feel like a mole to me) - "Breakfast": a tangy yogurt mousse, a fun milk + cereal, and a french toast w/ maple syrup ice cream (my least favorite of the trio) - "PB sandwich": There were a lot of components to this dish, but the most interesting was a sourdough ice cream, that didn't really taste like sourdough to me. Not sure how they made it - "Chocolate + flowers": didn't try it The creativity of this restaurant really shined through their dessert menu, regardless of how biased I might seem. That's probably the best dessert I've had in a long time!
