Below is my cake inspiration. I love how the cake tiers consist of round and square shapes - so definitely a great compromise. The orchids and curly willow add the right amount of color and contrast.
It's great taking a break from wedding planning to do these DIY projects. It was a lot easier and fun than I expected.
My DIY Hair Flower: I gathered supplies around the house and bought a magnolia bush I found at Dollar Tree to make this.

I found these particular blogs throughout the wedding planning process. It felt like a treasure hunt sometimes. I get excited over the things I find on these blogs. The people behind these blogs are really talented and amazing people who have a lot to share about their work and life. I can tell they truly love what they do and that makes me love to visit their blogs more and more. You can call me a Blog Stalker. =) Overall, these are great sources for keeping up with wedding trends and most of all...find INSPIRATION.

Our wedding day will begin with a tea ceremony at the bride's home. As part of the Vietnamese tradition, the bride and groom both wear ao dai. My stubborn groom-to-be refuses to wear one, so it will be just me and my BM's wearing ao dai. My ao dai will either be pink, yellow or gold. I may go for a boatneck or v-neck style, rather than the traditional high collar. I found these styles on aodaistyles.com and aodaivinh.com.
For makeup, I am looking to have dramatic eyes, rosy cheeks and pink/light coral colored lips with a touch of shimmer/gloss.
For hair, I am thinking to have side swept bangs, loose waves in a low side ponytail.
Update: 3/11/09 - Pic on the right is Beatie...isn't she gorgeous? thx to MissQ for pointing it out. I had no clue.
Maybe I will change it up at the reception with a low updo.
