I've had several questions about my bustle so I thought I would try and break it down a bit. Here are some pictures to start:
How my bustle was done: My bustle is what my seamstress called a "nine point traditional bustle". Which means it had 9 hook and eye pick ups total from hip to hip.
<---Dress not bustled. You can't see where the bustle attachments are.
<---Close up of the fishing wire used to hold up the skirt.
<---Close up of clear button that the fishing wire hangs on.
<---Another view of the button. It blends into the the beading so you can't even see it.
<---Getting ready to hook the wire onto the clear button
<---The wire goes through the tulle to the underneath of the dress and is reinforced by beading. (Note: this only happens on the 3 center hooks. The other 6 go though the tulle only.
<---Close up of the wire hanging on the button
<---Dress bustled. (I didn't attach all 9 hooks...I only did 7 but you get the idea)
Hopefully that helps your seamstress.
