Castle Green was the first vendor that we booked and I have to say that from the moment we walked in, I knew I had to get married here. This place is amazingly beautiful, both inside and out. The grounds and building are maintained meticulously and are just gorgeous. We had originally planned to have the ceremony outdoors and reception indoors, but we had a freak rainstorm the day of our wedding (weather channel called it "unprecedented"!) and the ceremony was moved indoors at the last moment. It actually turned out beautiful, intimate, and cozy, there is not one place in this venue that you couldn't have a lovely ceremony. Staff was helpful. Once we booked the venue we really had no dealings with them except to schedule the rehearsal. We were able to have a one-hour outdoor rehearsal at no additional cost. And don't worry that the hotel has been converted to condos - you will probably not see any of the residents. It is not especially cheap, but cost does include the Chivari chairs (which you don't need to cover - hooray!) and the round tables for the reception. They have A LOT of guidelines, including NO open flames (i.e. no candles), no runners on the grass, no more than five children under 13 etc. etc. but we had no problems with these. Best part is you can bring in your own alcohol and depending on your caterer you won't have any corkage or cake-cutting fees...not bad because many venues will nickel and dime you on these various fees. We have had so many compliments on our venue choice and I know the photos are going to be awesome. I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else.

Rose City Flowers - Tom Larsen
( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Out of all of my vendors, all of the details and elements of the wedding, I have to say I was happiest with how the flowers turned out. Tom is a joy to work with, talented and he LISTENS! So many vendors nod their heads and give you an attitude of "You think you know what you want, but I know best". Tom listened to what we wanted, offered alternatives for what wasn't available and delivered flowers that literally brought tears to my eyes. I was overjoyed when my guests told me that the flowers had a Victorian feel to them, that was exactly the sentiment that I had expressed to Tom. I wanted an antique style to match our antique venue. The colors were delicate and rich, and the flowers for the wedding party were just exquisite. When our ceremony was unexpectedly moved indoors, we were told the flower girl could not drop petals on the floor. Tom took her basket back to his shop where he quickly created a little arrangement. It was the sweetest thing! His pricing is extremely competitive, he beat out other florists that we received quotes from. I will continue to recommend him to any So-Cal bride I come across!

Cakes by Laura
( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Laura was great to work with, her pricing is awesome, and her cake was gorgeous. We had a last second change (antique cake topper shattered in a million pieces), and she said "No problem" and added extra flowers. The cake was beautiful and tasted great. She was so sweet to work with (no pun intended!), even sending us a 3D mockup of what the cake would look like. She does great work and I will definetely use Cakes by Laura again!

While the calligraphy was beautiful, Laura's organizational skills could use some practice. Not only did Laura lose a few envelopes, she incorrectly wrote a few addresses (wrong zip codes, wrong address numbers) and even wrote one upside down on the envelope! She was also impossible to reach by e-mail or by phone. I left numerous messages and not one was returned. She told me I could pick up the envelopes in the store - not only did she not show up, the envelopes weren't even left with the clerk so I could just pick them up! She didn't even call to let me know she wouldn't be there (despite the fact that I had given her my home #, cell #, and work #). I was given a coupon for 50 free escort cards...why bother when they probably wouldn't be done in time?
