Thank goodness I don't panic (much)  My daughter and I went to scope out our venue 3 weeks before the wedding, I wanted to check out some sizes and areas one more time.  To my horror, there was no parking, and it was a dull misty rainy day.  There wasn't an inch of space on any of the grassy areas, all were full of families having their BBQ's, and the picnic tables were packed.  No problem I thought - we can shuttle people back and forth from down the road right to the beach (about a 10 minute drive)  I had previously booked a set of picnic tables, under cover too, so I wasn't too worried about that.  Then we walked down to the actual beach area where I had reserved to hold the actual ceramony.  OMG, sometime over the winter a load of huge boulders had been dumped right at the bottom of the stairs that I was supposed to walk down.  There was no longer a nice little sandy beach.  As much as we both wanted to have an oceanside wedding, I could not see any way around all of these obstacles. Time to finally break down and cry. :(

That night Dave & I decided that the beach just wasn't going to work, it was causing us just way too much stress.  We live only a few minutes away from a little lake and park, so we decided to have the whole wedding moved there.  That is actually the backdrop for my profile photo!  So many phone calls and e-mails of maps and change of plans later, we are now into our last week, and everything does not seem to be going smoother.  I must say, I will be glad when this is all done.  We live in a very small townhouse, and right now there are bins piled 3 high all over the front room, so many decorations, drinks, food.......

I think everything is ready to go - I am still doing a few last minute things - like working on my veil, shopping and packing for our honeymoon cruise to Alaska.  The weather here has been beautiful sun for the past week - that worries me, as it is to continue till Wed. this is a very long streak for here, I am thinking it will be changing to rain just in time for the wedding.  Good job we have already bought 2 pop up gazebos!!!

HAHA - so much for the post below!!!  how things can change.  We did get our invitations sorted out, and made them ourselves on the computer with a lovely sand and seashell front.  Oh yeah, and our cake is of course a beach theme, my bouquet is red rose buds with tiny seashells...... Yup, beach theme for sure, just no beach!!

Our big day will be June 6th.  This is a 2nd marriage for both of us, and I must say that I am having much more fun planning this one than the last one!!  So much more relaxed, and no parents to please etc.  This wedding will be what we want and how we want it.

We spent last Saturday checking out locations.  Both of us have said all along that we wanted to be married near the ocean.  From where we live it would be at least an hour drive through downtown Vancouver to get to the beach, so instead we opted to check out some local lakes and such.  Of course, the beaches we wanted to check where all on top of the local mountains, which are still a few feet deep in snow.  It was a beautiful sunny day, but very cold.  Much to our surprise we found a new beach, and it is actually oceanside due to the way the coast runs.  We found the perfect little spot of beach and are now waiting for a special "ceremony approval".  Being a 2nd time around we are having a small wedding, mostly our children (6 between us)and a few close family and friends.  I have already bought my dress - RED.  I wanted to be bright and vibrant on our special day.  My 2 girls will be giving me away, and we are hoping that Dave's 1 1/2 year old grand daughter will be able to hold the rings for us.

Having some trouble with the invitations though, we have done the "final" copy about 4 times now LOL, we just can't get it right.  We have the photo's we want used, we are DIYing them, but I can't seem to find any invitation wording other than "I am marrying ny friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love."  If anyone has any more original ideas I would love to hear them.
