Nathan Wauk Photography & Video

The Good:

Nathan takes pretty pictures and is affordable. He gave me a good discount for my Thursday wedding.

The Bad:

1. Nathan told me he would bring a second shooter to my wedding, on the day of the wedding he showed up by himself. I paid for an extra meal that wasn't consumed so that was annoying.

2. He promised to have my pictures ready in 3 weeks, but it took 12 weeks and only because I bugged him about it repeatedly.

3. He made all kinds of excuses for not having my pictures ready... he was shooting 'on location', he was busy, he forgot to call, he thought I was on my honeymoon... etc... it was ridiculous. In one phone conversation he claimed he was swamped and couldn't finish editing my photos till the following week, that weekend I saw pictures of him having fun at Burning Man on Facebook. Note to vendors: Don't lie to your clients, especially if they are your Facebook friend. It's not nice and they don't appreciate it.

Yes, you read that right. Imagine my disappointment when I received my images and saw there was not a single proper picture of my family. I know we posed for it (the second photog I hired got a shot of it, but a few people were looking away) so I expected him to have a shot of my family. When I emailed about it, he was dismissive and wrote back that he took 'silly' shots of my family. Yes, silly shots of people look away, looking at different cameras, back to the camera, standing around... etc. Those are not photos I can frame and give my parents!

I'm giving him two stars because I do like some of the weddings photos and absoluely LOVED our engagement photos. But I do not recommend him because he seriously lack customer service skills and I don't have a single family picture from my wedding that I can frame and give to my parents :o(

Just to think I was so close to not hiring a DOC and my wedding could have been a crazy, stressful mess. Theresa was the best investment I made for my wedding and the nicest thing I did for myself. She was so on top of EVERYTHING and allowed me to enjoy the day without worrying about the small details. Here are just a few things she did on my wedding day: - She arranged my DIY centerpieces, frames with the table names, and champagne flutes on all the guests tables beautifully. - The way she set up the entry way was better than I could have done myself. The placements of the gift table, escort card table, and my photo booth were all perfect. She really had an eye for how these things should look. - Okay, my caterer was a pain and a tacky pain too! He had one of his waiter spread out their catering business cards on EVERY guest table during set up. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw it. I just kept saying, Seriously, who does that??!!!! Luckily, Theresa stepped in, talked to the caterer, and had the business cards removed (despite a little fit from my caterer). Theresa saved me from some major embarrassment and I am so thankful! - She did an amazing job keeping everyone in the loop with what is happening and on track with the timeline. - Theresa actually started loading presents into the car before the wedding was over; my family barely had to do anything. My Uncle was so impressed by her work ethic and professionalisms, he thought she was fantastic! Beyond kicking butt on my wedding day, Theresa was simply the nicest person to work with in the weeks leading up to my wedding. She checked in with me periodically to make sure I was fine/not too frazzled. She called and made arrangements with some of my vendors, and answered my e-mails the same day (if not within an hour of me sending it) -- This was seriously a HUGE plus!!! I had vendors who did not return my e-mails for weeks!! Theresa was so good at e-mailing and calling me back and I love her for it! I think most brides out there know how frustrating it is to have to wait days/weeks for a vendor. Theresa will be there for you!! :o) Hiring Theresa to be my DOC was a very smart decision and I would recommend her to anyone!

I hired Aileen at the last minute to be the second shooter and she turned out to be a better investment than my primary photographer! She shot the first look at Gardens of the World (in fact, the photos above are ME and DH at GOTW :o) ) and my ceremony and reception at the Malibu West Beach Club. Aileen is so professional, talented, and most importantly, her photos are stunning! After Aileen blogged our wedding, my husband who was reluctant to hire a 2nd shooter due to cost before the wedding, declared he was SO happy we had hired Aileen because she captured the most beautiful images from our wedding day. I highly recommend Aileen and look forward to hiring her to shoot other special occasions in the future.

Cheesy Photobooths
( 4.0 / 5.0 )
My guests all loved the photo booth and had tons of fun with it at my wedding. Kevin was attentive and refilled the photo paper promptly when it ran out. I absolutely loved the fact that they set up a table with scrap booking supplies so the guests can decorate a page for the photo scrap book way better than a traditional guest book! Kids loved it, adults loved it, my Grandma loved it! Im also happy that we were able to add our customized banner to incorporate our dog so she can be part of our wedding in a special way. I have to take off one star for some poor communication before my wedding. Karen was not very responsive to my e-mails and never sent me sample photo booth pictures when I requested. At one point after waiting for days for a reply, I actually considered asking if someone else could be my point of contact. So they get a C grade for pre-wedding communication, but an A for service on my wedding day.

I dreamed of walking down the aisle to the Sleeping Beauty Waltz on my wedding day (because when I grow up, I want to be a princess) and Fiddlestix made it happen! We auditioned them on a Thursday night and book them that night they sounded great and we loved all the Beatles music they played. Margaret was very friendly, detail oriented, and organized and I felt very confident that they will play beautifully at our ceremony and cocktail hour. On my wedding day, my only regret was not being able to enjoy their playing more during the cocktail hour. The quartet was prompt in arriving and setting up, played fantastic music, and Margaret actually sent me a Thank You note after the wedding, what a class act! I am extremely happy I booked Fiddlestix for my wedding and I would recommend them to any bride looking for a quality but affordable quartet.
