Mr. Toad's Tours

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
I didn't hire Mr. Toad's for a wedding but I did for a bachelorette party. The bride really wanted to hire them for her wedding but couldn't fit it into her budget so we surprised her with it for her bach. party! Mr. Toad's is a family run business and the driver that picked us up was the father. He was prompt and sweet. Because Mr. Toad's specializes in tours around SF, in route to our destination he would give us interesting tidbits about the city. There was only so much an older gentleman can say to a bunch of girls and in order to keep conversations going he would tell us about the city. We all thought it was very interesting and cute that he was trying to make us comfortable. We really appreciated him and I would certainly hire them again. Just one less star because we had a bit of a communication hiccup during booking but totally nothing big. I'm just a hard grader, I guess.

Bev Tanaka

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Bev is just one of the sweetest people I've ever met and I'm sure you will feel the same once you meet her. She takes pride in her work and it definitely shows. At our meeting she mentioned that she had been up since 1am baking a cake for a wedding that morning. Knowing that she had a wedding to do, she still agreed to meet with me that afternoon. Typically, people without sleep would be cranky but that's not Bev. Can't image her being mad at all. Ok back to cakes... We brought the two samples she gave us, along with another cake from another baker and had a cake tasting party with our bridal party. Bev's raspberry cake was well liked and the winner for our taste test. She is so reasonably priced, you can't go wrong.

Kirsten Tucker Designs

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Kirsten is amazing! She definitely knows how to make the dress look great on you. I purchased a Vera Wang size 8 sample, I'm a size 6. So pretty much the whole dress had to be altered...really reconstructed. Being that it is a gown, I had five layers of fabric that had to be cut, sew, pulled, tightened, loosened...everything! I only went in twice and the second time was already completely done! She is so good that no wonder why she works with SF Opera in their costume department. If she can alter and create costumes for the Opera, wedding gowns are not a problem. Four other of my friends have gone to her for their gowns and were completely satisfied with their dresses. I've also gone to her for my maids dresses and they came out perfect as well.

Macy's

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Macy's, not known for their customer service, but in the men's suits department at the downtown San Francisco flagship store there you will find great service from Mr. Joe Fong. Instead of buying separate gifts for the groomsmen, my fiance and I decided to purchase suits for all the guys. We wanted quality without breaking the bank so with all the specials and coupons Macy's keep on sending us, we were able to find a great quality three button, 2 piece suit for about $185 each. Our sales person, Mr. Joe Fong has been with the company for decades and he prides himself in providing great service. He knows suits inside and out, can quickly measure you by just looking at you and outfit you at any price. If they don't have it in stock, he'll find it for you. So if you are looking for one or multiple suits, check out Macy's and find Joe Fong!

Cakes Made by M.E.

( 4.0 / 5.0 )
Taste was not bad but not as good as I had hoped since she can pretty much do anything you want. She is super skilled and have been baking for 10 years. Fondant, buttercream, sugar flowers, tie-dyed like cakes...she does it all without a flinch of uncertainty. If you like the crazy creativity and looks of Cakework designs, she is totally reasonably priced for what she can do with cakes.

Crazy Cake Company

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I found out about Lien and her crazy cakes through Weddingbee. After finding out that she was located in Davis, I was a bit hesitant to contact her because I was afraid of the delivery fee (got married 80 miles from her location). But because the local bakers I was meeting with did not meet my expectations, I decided to make the trek to meet with Lien. And boy was the 1 1/2 hour drive was totally worth it! The meeting was well prepared, efficient and organized. I told her that I really like April Reed cakes and she automatically knew my vision. Being an indecisive person, she was very patient and answered all my questions clearly and quickly. And on the day of the wedding, two things left me speechless- my bouquet and the wedding cake. I was seriously stunned by its beauty. And to top it off, it taste fantastic!!! All my guests were raving about the look and the taste! Some had as many as three slices! Lien's skills is an absolute must to check out when looking for bakers! NOTE: I hate delivery fees and her's are similar to bakers in the SF and San Mateo delivering to Pleasanton. So in terms of distance, she was actually cheaper since she was driving from Davis.
