Hello, PWers!  I have a lot of 'splainin to do since I'm techinically not engaged yet.  I don't even know where to start.  First, let me introduce myself: my name is Karen, I'm 26, and I've been planning my wedding since I was nine.

Okay, not really.  It's more like I've been a lover of weddings since I was nine.  Maybe not even weddings - just events.  I love events.  I love getting people together and having a good time.  I'm the kind of person who goes to Harry Potter premieres without having read the books.  (Sorry HP fans, but yeah - I'm THAT person!)  I'm the person who loves the Super Bowl but not football.

But enough about my craziness.  I happen to have a boyfriend of over 4 years who fell in love with me in spite of my love of weddings, midnight movie premieres, and regressing to a five-year-old when my pant cuffs get wet in the rain.  His name is Nick and he's awesome.  We met through a summer program in college.  I fell in love with him in spite of him being two and a half years my junior, and his love of Texas Hold'em, cheesy spy novels, and regressing to a ten-year-old whenever I bend over to pick things off the floor.

Anyhow, Nick and have been talking about marriage for years, but we are very set on being financially ready for a family before taking the plunge.  We already own our condo together, and after a tree randomly fell on his car, we share mine.  Things were going smoothly after we got the condo and I got my first contract as a teacher, but recent budget cuts in CA forced the district to lay me off this past February.  I have been out of work since June, and the two of us have been living on one income since August.

I love all of the ideas the PW ladies have for their weddings!  I have found uses for all kinds of these ideas for birthdays, holidays, random gifts, and my sister's baby shower.  Since being unemployed, the one thing I definitely have is TIME.  You all are certainly keeping me from losing my mind.

That's enough about me for now.  I'm writing on my netbook and my neck is TIRED!

ETA: I am 27 now!  Aaaahhh!
