Now, unlike Christian weddings, in our culture, the couple's parents send out ATLEAST THREE invitation cards to their guests for the various ceremonies:
1. Henna (or traditionally called the Mehndi)
2. The Wedding (or Shadi)
3. The Reception (or Valima)
I've pretty much decided on the Mehndi invite, but I'm sooooo open to suggestions and advice for the other 2 events, keeping along the same themes, ofcourse.

FOR THE MEHNDI :
THE WEDDING INVITE :
OPTIONS FOR VALIMA CARD :
We need a monogram !
How is that done? How do I start off?
Nikah (Arabic: النكاح ), is the official contract between a bride and a bridegroom,
and part of an Islamic marriage,
a strong covenant as expressed in the Holy Qur'an 4:21

Henna is applied to the bride's hands and feet,
and Sadka (warding off evil) is performed,
after which a Dinner for the guests ensues.
Traditionally, the bride is not allowed to take part in the celebrations and keeps her face hidden in veil.
What greater thing is there for two human souls
than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen
each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all sorrow,
to share with each other in all gladness,
to be one with each other in the
silent unspoken memories?

Also known as the Valima,
this is a grand reception hosted by the groom's parents
to announce the wedding
and introduce the couple officially for the first time !

for the henna / mehndi ceremony
this is supposed to be a very traditional, colourful, fun event
with dancing and singing and application of henna and loadsa pranks
for the wedding
hmm. something that compliments my red dress..
i am aiming for a grand elegant look on the day of the wedding
perhaps along the lines of..
for the reception
first dinner in honor of the couple
hosted by the groom's family
a nicer, lighter, happier feel
i wasn't sure what i wanted for the reception, except it had to be unique, contemporary, and it just had to wow me. with this, i short listed the following few outfits..
i finally settled for this absolutely gorgeous dress - covered in sequins - desgined by the very talented mehdi, who by the way is a renowned fashion designer of pakistan
now for the wedding.
it had to be traditional. and red, ofcourse.
They first met in Grade 8..
He was a metal mouthed spoilt brat..
She was a very geeky prankster..
They couldn't stand each other
The next ten years..
Brought a love -
A love only fairytales are made of
They will be man and wife.
