Feb 14, 2010
In February, Stephan surprised me with a cruise to the Bahamas over Valentine's Day weekend. The cruise set sail from the Port of Miami Friday evening.
Saturday morning we arrived in Coco Kay and went on a jet ski excursion with a group of people.
When we arrived back on the island, we found a secluded spot and layed in a hammock under a tree to relax in the shade. After a little while, Stephan said, "I know that I told you that this cruise was your Valentine's gift, but I did to get you a little something. Close your eyes."
So I closed my eyes and I felt him get out of the hammock. When he told me to open my eyes, he was knealing in front of me with the ring in his hand and he said, "Will you marry me?" I was so surprised!
With excitement I hugged him and said, "Yes! Yes! I will marry you!"
It was magical! We layed in the hammock and enjoyed the moment as we dreamed about our future.
We were introduced in June 2008 and immediately hit it off over the phone.
For our first date, we attempted to drive go-karts, but quickly changed our minds when we realized that we were the oldest 'kids' there. Conceding to our age, we ended up in Mizner Park at the Dubliner with drinks instead.
A few days later we had our second date over dinner.
Immediately thereafter, both of our travel schedules kept us from seeing each other much for nearly a month. Despite the distance between us, we chatted for hours on end over the phone and it quickly became obvious to both of us that we were on to something special. We had no idea that it would be the beginning to the rest of our lives; nor did we know that it would be the beginning of our story...
We are still enjoying every minute of it and we are excited to start the next chapter.
Although I tend to use February 14, 2010 as our wedding date, we really still haven't set a date. A lot of the sites require us to put something in for the date so I chose to put the anniversary of our engagement as the date until we settle on a REAL one. Sorry for any confusion!
We've looked at several venues, but still haven't found "The One." We've decided to leave the date open so that we are more flexible when we finally find our special place.
We recently did an engagement session with photographer, Ashley Colhouer. She has an amazing background in fashion photography and a unique style that is elegant AND fun. We both really feel that her style reflects our personalities and are excited to share our photos with our family and friends.
According to my PW checklist, I have 253 things to do and have only completed 5.
