Mike and I met online in May of 2007 and hit it off right away.  We spent our first summer playing golf and getting to know each other.  I knew for sure that he was the one when he had his tonsils out at the beginning of August.  I remember turning away so he wouldn't see my crying because I felt so bad that he was in a lot of pain (adult tonsillectomies are very painful).  We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the past two years and each one brought us closer together.

We got engaged in October of 2008.  I knew that it was on his mind and actually though that he would do it in September.  I foiled his original plan because I worked late on a Friday night.  I felt really bad when I got home and saw him still in his work clothes- looking like he had plans to go somewhere.  The next day he took me to the jewelry store and I helped him pick out my ring.  Leaving the store with an engagement ring and not actually "having" the ring is excruciating.  Luckily he decided to propose to me at home that night.   We went out for dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date the following weekend.  We had a great time celebrating our big, next step.

We are planning our big day for Saturday, January 2, 2010.  Our ceremony will be at the Catholic church in my hometown in Wisconsin (Madison area) and our reception will be at my parent's country club, also in my hometown.  We are trying to keep things smaller and more intimate (less than 130 guests).  My younger sister was a winter bride in 2006, which has made planning a lot easier (and she had 500 or so guests).  Our wedding will be a destination for us, as we currently live in the Twin Cities.
