Hello PW! Thank you to all you PW ladies for helping me with inspirations for my wedding. You ladies are wonderful!
My name is Mina and my husband is Alex. We met on a Saturday night by chance at a place called Jimmy Love's in the gaslamp district of San Diego, California, and the rest is history.
It was restaurant week in San Diego, so Alex and I decided to take advantage of it and try out a participating restaurant. Also, I had just landed a new job, so this was the perfect opportunity to celebrate. Alex made reservations for 5:30pm on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Prado in Balboa Park. Alex and I sat outside on the patio and had a view of the Prado courtyard by the wishing well, where wedding ceremonies usually take place. It was very romantic and perfect, from the ambience, weather, nearly full moon, and delicious 3 course meal. After dinner, we decided to take a walk in the park. Which was not unusual, since Balboa Park is one of our favorite parks to visit and walk around. In fact, it was where the first date that I had taken Alex on. Alex and I headed towards the reflecting pond first, which is one of my favorite places in the park. I was preoccupied with looking at the reflection of the beautiful, mission type buildings in the pond. It always seems as though there is a whole other world inside the pond. As we turned the corner to go on the bridge, there were beautiful white pillar candles lit, red roses, and red rose petals in the shape of a heart on the floor of the bridge. I was in shock and didn't realize at first that it was for me. I had thought that we were intruding on someone else's plans for the night. In shock with how romantic the set-up was, I asked who this was for. Alex took my hand and walked me over to the middle of the bridge in front of the rose petals shaped in a heart and said "this is for you." Alex then knealt on one knee and proposed! I was shaking and tearing up, as was Alex. I couldn't believe how perfect the moment was! It was everything I had dreamt of and more, and of course....I said "yes!"
