Thoughts, countdowns, creativity, more countdowns and even more ideas...all part of crazy wedding planning, right? Right! I just love how I talk to myself. The couple that created this website, they are brilliant, it is like therapy! Therapy for Brides, moms, planners or even friends of these people...I mean weddings really do make people go insane, really! I used to be normal and i used to not talk to myself, now I talk to myself, all of the time! So I will use this page as a peg board or like a virtual scrapbook of ideas that we tossed around throughout the wedding planning process...some were crazy and had us thinking, what were we thinking? Other's we kept, some we just knew would be perfect.
Okay...so we loved the service...hated the cards! Now I have 300
postcards sitting in my bedroom!
Cute idea...just getting off track...STOP!! too much colors going on in the brain!
Uh?? Not sure...but I am sure that we didn't keep this idea? I think? Nope.
The hand shake says...yes we kept this idea :) Our steel drum player Chris Arpad...Yaay! He will be listed under vendors :)
That's my girl...always acting silly...and NO...she didn't go with these either....haha! Although she did have fun, playing dress up! Remember? We are keeping her dress secret until the big day!!
ALRIGHT NOW>>>>>>>I'M FULL!!! FULL OF IT!! We are going will a simple but beautiful white 3 tier wedding cake with bright orange, purple and yellow ribbon detail and gerbera daisies...stay tuned...CUTE!!
Well why not???? Cake is cake isn't it? And this is the cake of all cakes!!
Every wedding planner has a wedding day vision...but I'm mom, so I'm a little nervous about my vision! I am pretty certain, I am not going to be able to be in 20 places at once...unless I find a magic wand somewhere, maybe someone here, knows a vendor for a wand? So I am going to keep my vision simple. I want my daughter and her new husband to walk into their reception area and just be wow'd! Problem #1...money, I'm out of it! Problem #2...time, I'm out of it too and problem #3 is the most obvious...it's only me doing this! So I thought if i could make their bridal party table look phenominal, it would make the whole room glow. So my idea is to do just that...focus on the head table..........................focus, focus...POCUS!!
Now how easy is this?!
Cute if you like sweetheart tables...I still like the lights and grand ballroom look though :) So I guess my thought is, just focus on the one table, glitz it up, make them the center of attention and keep all the other tables clean, crisp and white..right? right! This saves time, money and most importantly, my sanity. Those little white fairy lights are very affordable at Target (thanks Tara!) so I will deck the halls with those, along with their table and proceed to find a few swags of sheer fabric to tidy up the boring corners with...wedding planners...ha! Okay, I'm going to go cry now...I love you Lauren & Justin :)
Needs absolutely nothing but the Bride & Groom...ok and a few 150 guests :) Look at the backdrop setting! Catalina in one corner, beautiful, breathtaking bluffs, mysteriously haunted lighthouse (very romantic story actually) and endless blue ocean twinkling calmly. We are only adding a simple white arch, a steel drum player for that tropical, exotic feel (no amplified sound) and a fantastic wedding officiant...that's it! Well go ahead and count the big balling mother!
BREATHTAKING VIEW AT POINT VICENTE!
This is an arch that a couple used at Point Vicente...I stole the pic from the internet...sorry...I wish I knew who they were...I would say thanks :) Maybe if they knew how adorable they are, they would be happy to know they are helping new brides everywhere! But we are definitely doing this!
LOOK! You do not even need a dance floor...the outdoor patio is perfect!!
The flowers....oh the flowers!! This started out simple, became a mess and ended up a complete dream :) I was trying to save money, in the beginning, I really was, stop laughing! I used to work for a florist, so I knew a thing or two about floral arranging and a tad bit about designing. What I do not reccomend though, is doing your own wedding or especially doing your daughter's wedding!
The first florist was talented, experienced but a bit dry on the personality test with my daughter. There was not a lot of room to express tastes or dislikes with this florist, without stepping on artistic toes. My daughter and this florist, both are strong personalities, that when combined in the art department, becomes a science experiment gone bad! I suggested, to help on cost and sanity, that I do some of the flowers myself, this was not going to be an option....so goodbye florist, on to the next.
Flower designs By Mary Ann...here we come! I was skepticle at first, how could just some florist that I drove by every day, be "the one", well, much like the engagement ring, being "the one"...they were. They were so friendly, so talented and so caring, that I almost forgot I was dealing with a business. We walked in, explained briefly what we wanted and they took notes, drew pictures and showed us samples, even let us smell the roses...brilliant! What really sold me? They were over $1,000 less than the other florist, with more flowers being offered, still don't understand? The arch is going to look amazing I am sure, the colors are going to jump out at everyone, especially against the beautiful sunset sky and sparkling ocean...I just can't wait!
Bridal boquet she liked...one of MANY!! We have taller vases...with bright purple orchids floating inside then our votives are displayed around the tables
Our arch but we will be going with bright purple flowers, orange gerbera daisies and yellow sunflowers...tropical, sunset colors!
Just fun...a splash of color in June! Hopefully the florist finds these colors for gerberas!! We want those on the arch...whoohoo!
My daughter fell in love with something else besides Justin...the color purple!! She calls it Regal purple...I call it Laker Purple...can you tell I live in Los Angeles??? Anyway...the napkin example is the color we are talking about and even the heart design is the theme we chose for all the designs. Her champagne flutes, invitations, seals and decorations all have the joining silver hearts. I picked up these napkins for the bar area and went with white table linens with purple linen napkins for all the tables. The chairs are cute white, open back chairs that did not need chair covers, so we scored there!
Except NO pink napkins...they WILL be purple :) !! Those are the chairs though and we are hoping the linens go all the way to the floor...right Richard...right??? lol!
Tux ideas!! This is the color of the bridesmaids dresses...
This group of girls just seem to make every party a blast...no exceptions for photo shoots either! This was just your ordinary bridal shower that took a photo shoot gone wild twist! Yes, even mom got involved :) Her bridal party consists of two Maid of Honors...her sister Amy and her BFF Maria, then her lifelong BF's, Stephanie, Terry and Danielle
The Ring was the most exciting part for me, because i didn't expect to be a part of it. Her fiance called me and asked if i would go with him to pick out her ring, I was honored and thought how much fun it would be, to my surprise though, he came through like a true prince charming! We shopped a couple spots, as he winced at all the rings, nothing satisfying his taste...until...the one, the one ring that jumped right out at him!
We stopped in a "mom & pop" jewelry store, some little Italian guy, showed him around, talked fast, told him about the 4 C's and Justin explained he knew about all the BS...I just LOL'd and then it happened, the man pulled out an unfinished ring from his shirt pocket, still unpolished and barely set, Justin screeched to see it! That was the ring, he explained, he wanted to take that ring home. He had told me that once he saw the perfect ring, he would know, and he knew.
The man must have known too, because he tried to talk him out of it for some reason, Justin wouldn't listen...he bought the ring. The stone is a near perfect diamond, as a matter of fact, I had to use my diamond tester on it, because I was not too sure, due to the brilliance and fire of the stone...simply gorgeous! The setting very simple, as to compliment the perfect stone. I think what made the whole thing so great, was the fact that this ring just stumbled upon Justin...it found him, not the other way around.
