Asian Art Museum
My fiance and I are having our wedding ceremony and banquet here and we cannot wait! Pros: Visually stunning venue, inside as well as out. Easily accessible location within San Francisco (across from City Hall). Availability of parking. Cons: Rental price. Homeless people around the neighborhood (around Civic Center/City Hall), but my fiance and I haven't noticed them immediately around the museum and we've visited both in the day and at night a few times. Entry into museum on day of wedding not allowed until after museum closes to its visitors at 5:15pm. There are four event spaces in the museum - Samsung Hall, the Loggia, and the North and the South Court - that may be rented in various combinations. Samsung Hall and the Loggia have very grandiose looks, from the floor to the grand staircase to the quotes of wisdom etched on the top of the walls in the Loggia, large windows in the hall and the intricate and high ceilings in both spaces. The North and the South Court have a more modern feel. My fiance and I are choosing to have both our wedding ceremony and banquet within Samsung Hall and cocktails in the Loggia. We fell in love with this venue as soon as we stepped into Samsung Hall and after we were already put into a quiet awe as we looked at the ceiling of the Loggia while walking up the steps that lead to the hall. We both stood at the center of the room and began picturing our wedding ceremony almost immediately. Rental price caused us to continue our venue search but after numerous other venue visits, decided to increase the wedding budget to book the venue that made us fall in love with it.

Pros: Beautiful unique wedding gowns (by European couture designers), amazing flower/feather hair clips which you can ask to customize as well, adorable shop, great service Con: Price Nouvelle Vogue is THE place to go if you are looking for a unique wedding gown that is different in a good way. One of ten bridal shops I visited, this shop was by far my favorite because of a great selection of unique gowns that all differ from the typical wedding dress I see in most every wedding magazine. Unlike at other shops, I easily found a dress I loved here; I actually found three, one of which even my mom - who prefers traditional dresses - loved despite it being "different." I nearly bought my dress here but in the end, I couldn't justify spending $4-6K on any one of those dresses, not to mention a matching veil to one of them for $800, that I'd only wear once. Had I not found THE dress at the tenth and final shop I went to though, I would have most likely splurged on my wedding gown here. The hair clips are gorgeous and of great quality as well. The only negative is the price. I believe the price of the flower/feather clips I liked ranged from $250-$400. If you are looking for a lovely and unique gown and don't mind spending thousands, you must visit this store.
