Matt and I haven't taken a long vacation together ever. So this week long adventure in Disney World was much appreciated. Despite the weather, we had a lot of fun. It wasn't too crowded at all and we got to sample some of Florida's finest. (Or Disney's finest, really.) This was definitely not a "relax and do nothing" honeymoon either. We walked everywhere and got a lot of cool photos.
The day was beautiful. There were only a few minor glitches (such as my hair stylist not showing up) but everyone seemed to have a good time. There were a lot of surprises; mostly for good. For example, I didn't know what the cake would look like until I saw it at the reception; neither of us knew what the church would look like decorated; and we also didn't expect to have a wedding crasher either. Quite entertaining. And I'm pleased to mention that my shoes didn't come off until we made it to the suite. They were that comfortable. (And I'm pretty picky.)
Jen LOVES the Peanuts Gang. So at the beginning of the year, Matt and Jen agreed to go to the Charles Schulz museum in Santa Rosa after a wedding for friends in Tahoe in June. Jen and Matt had gone ring shopping in May, so Jen knew the ring was coming, just not when.
June 19th happened to be a really warm day. The A/C in the museum was broken, so they spent a lot of time in the courtyard at the museum. They explored upstairs but figured it was too hot to stay. As they were leaving, Matt insisted on going out to the courtyard again. Jen didn't know why because there wasn't much in the courtyard. Matt found a bench under the "kite eating tree" and proposed to Jen. Jen screamed and said yes. And then proceeded to skip around the Snoopy labrynith.
About Jen... Jen is an event planner for a local non-profit. She also does graphic design on the side. She is a foster mom for the Sacramento City Animal Shelter for sick shelter kitties. She loves to travel, check out new restaurants, music, working out and taking walks with Matt, scrapbooking, and the sandy beaches of Hawaii.
About Matt... Matt is a software developer. He bought a MINI Cooper in 2006 and likes to go "motoring" with Jen (and other folks too.) He shares Jen's love for animals, enjoys playing with computers and cars, playing Katamari, and reading a good book.
Matt and Jen met at the Sacramento Newman Catholic Center in 2004. It was the first Wednesday night Mass of the fall semester. It was Jen's first time back to church. Matt strolled in late and sat next to Jen. He made a comment about her cell phone being orange.
Newman serves a $2 dinner to it's Wednesday night patrons. Jen overheard Matt talking about Pacifica so, being from the bay area herself, she decided to add to the conversation.
Fast forward, Matt and Jen became really good friends and Matt became Jen's confirmation sponsor. Things took off after spending a weekend together in Shingle Springs for a Newman Retreat. And our entire first kiss was based on a wager and getting lost in Downtown.
