Ariel and Eric's First Kiss

"What would I give to live where you are?  What would I pay to stay here beside you? What would I do to see you smiling at me?....Just you and me, and I could be, part of your world..."

Our fairytale unfolded at the Rose Court Gazebo of the DL Hotel, where we will finally became a part of each other's worlds. :)

"You poor unfortunate souls, it's sad but true..."

We still have a long way before we get married and are saving every penny for the party and for life afterward. I found out about the Sunshine Rewards site from another D!sney Bride. It's a great site that allows you cash back rewards on purchases. Most people shop online anyway, so it's great that a lot of popular merchants are on the site and allow for a rebate of sorts. It's not a lot. Most are between 2-11% back but it does add up over time. I plan to cash out on D!sney gift cards to help pay for the wedding, but you can get gift cards for other things if D!sney isn't your thing. I wasn't sure about it at first, so I've mostly earned money through surveys. So far so good! SR helps its members find coupons, discounts, and free shipping and helps them make money by taking legitimate surveys. They also have a forum where people have made a ton of friends. I kinda feel good supporting a business that was started by just a regular person. Tricia Meyer began SR in 2006 so that she could spend more time with her children and help friends save money shopping online. She eventually hired her own mother and her best friend to work with her.

Earn Cash Back at Sunshine Rewards

They have a lot of merchants related to weddings so I'm sure this could help us all as we try to find the best deals for our big day. :D Hopefully I can keep racking in the dough to at least save for the honeymoon. *crossing fingers*

EDIT 9/16/10: I ended up cashing in my Sunshine Rewards points for a $250 Disney Gift Card which we ended up using to pay for one of the nights at our Disney hotel for our mini-moon at Disneyland. It took 6 weeks for it to arrive so luckily I had the foresight to order it in early July so it had plenty of time to arrive for our August wedding. :)

We had a wonderful fairytale wedding at "the happiest place on earth"!!!

Growing up in Southern California, you become accustomed to celebrating major accomplishments and life events at Disneyland. Disneyland had been the backdrop for so many wonderful family moments for me and when I realized that they had a Wedding Department, I set my hopes on their venues for our dream day.

They’re not affordable but no more “unaffordable” than any other venue in Southern California so my FI and I, being tremendous Disney fans, knew we had to save and make Disneyland the setting for our wedding day. We met with our sales planner Kelly almost 2 years before the wedding to go over locations. She was honest and attentive and answered all of our many questions and made us feel at ease with our decision to host our event there. We sent in our deposit and contracts were signed shortly thereafter. They sent us a “planning packet” to go over so that the DFTW department knew what kind of things we would need for our ceremony and reception. A few months later, we had a “planning session” to go over details of our wedding and to meet Melissa, the florist and décor designer. The meeting was quick and uneventful, but both Kelly and Melissa answered all of our questions and offered suggestions to spice up our event.

Throughout the entire process, Kelly was in constant contact. She responded to e-mails almost immediately and was great about investigating things for us and updating our event order form with all of the things we were adding and subtracting.

Two months before the wedding, we had a wonderful meal tasting at the Grand Californian. Nicholas, Jose, Chef Amy, and Bakers Christina and Nubia made us feel welcome and delighted us with a full preview of our wedding day complete with the full 5 course meal we were going to serve and a fully decorated mock-up wedding cake that the baking staff custom created for us. It was fantastic and everything tasted delicious. We couldn’t wait for the big day.

Denise was our event coordinator and walked us through the rehearsal and took care of us on the wedding day. She made sure that we were on schedule and escorted us after the ceremony to our reception to get a little sneak peek of the room. Kelly made sure that all of our things were placed in their respective places, drove us around in the morning for our castle shoot and to the reception after the ceremony, and helped all of the “behind-the-scenes” things go in order. Leslie, the banquet manager and entire staff that worked our event were magnificent! They really took care of us and the family. Our group raved about the atmosphere and food and complimented Ernie the bartender for his delightful disposition and eagerness to demonstrate unknown wines to some of the wine drinkers in our group. Baker Christina outdid herself with our custom cake topper. It was out of this world and literally brought tears to my eyes when I saw it. This wonderful and talented group of people made saving up and having our wedding at Disneyland worth every penny and we’re so glad that we held our most important day at the Disneyland Resort. We had a few surprises for our guests (Characters at the reception, me arriving in the Main St. Fire Engine)and they turned out to be tremendous hits. The expressions and feedback we received were priceless.

For those that aren’t Disney fans, what’s wrong with you? No seriously, if you’re not into Mickey and Minnie and the princess thing, they can still cater to your non-whimsical needs so don’t assume that you have to go full out “Disney” if you’re having an event there. The venues are classy and elegant, the food is excellent and the service is beyond compare. They have such a tremendous attention to detail and surprised us with a few things and it totally solidified our decision to host our most important relationship day at our happiest place on earth. We’d host every party in our future there if we could, just to work with all these wonderful people all over again.
