Marci Curtis - Wedding Photojournalist
Marci Curtis was ABSOLUTELY by far the best choice we made for the wedding. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I had a few other vendors I enjoyed but This was the absolute best money we spent. Her photos were amazing and we NEVER had to tell her what to do or where to be or hey can we get this? I also happened to book her for a boudoir session and had SO much fun doing it, absolutely no feelings of being self conscious! She's a fantasically talented photographer and between her and her daugther..I genuinely don't think the day would've been the same without them. The pictures can make you smile and cry and laugh out loud. People are still telling me how much fun the photo booth was and how it was such a good idea. They even got people who NEVER get in photos to join in! Even though we live out of state we are even recommending her here!! This is definitely a person we will go to for future photo ops..she's worth a heck of a lot more than she charges;) We are SO glad they was a part of our wonderful day!

Beclyns Chocolate Fountains
I had contacted Beverly Tharp through email online and received a fairly quick response. And since we had a smaller intimate gathering I wasn't too sure about going with a larger company for a bigger fountain for well over $500. What luck they had a smaller fountain!! And for considerably less than the larger companies! Beverly and her sister were very sweet. They were on time and decorated the table SO nicely. Very smooth process and I'm still getting compliments on the fountain. The cream puffs were to DIE for and I normally don't go for them. Definitely keeping their info for future use.

I have super mixed reviews for the Whitney. There were some great positives and some great negatives. Positives, the service the day of was excellent and the food was amazing. Absolutely breathtaking inside and beautiful pictures to be had. When we had contact with the banquet manager, she was great. The staff was impeccable. Absolutely hands down. Food came out quickly, they kept our glasses filled AND they even packed up all my extra votives and everything! The cake was made by them and I've heard it tasted wonderful but didn't get to truly sample it myself..I forgot! We did the wedding early on a Saturday so we were the only ones there with the run of the mansion. Definitely a plus! We also had a nice little area to finish getting ready in on the 3rd floor (the AC was up in our room thank god!) WITH a bathroom. Valet was included so that was nice. Negatives SUPER slow response times. There was a period of a couple months I never heard back from them until my fiance decided to be slightly snotty and then we got a response. I explained to the banquet manager how things needed to be set up she said no problem ..except she wasn't there the day of! So I ended up having to set most of the stuff up myself. Pricing was never standard..we had 3 different price lists. We paid early and were informed there wouldn't be a refund..even before we'd given the guest count! Understandable we wouldn't get a refund if we said ok 70 are coming and 65 showed. Eventually they relented but by that time all was said and done we were just too tired to deal with it so we never did get anything back. The contract stated final guest count by this date OR your RSVP..well the date was 2 months prior to the RSVP..few issues there. Wasn't aware of a menu change til sorta late but it ended up being a good change even though I had to fix our programs. SUPER NEGATIVE-the THIRD floor was 90 freakin degrees!!! Our guests were dying, not to mention me in that big dress and crinoline which I absolutely had to remove because it was so warm. The chocolate fountain upstairs didn't really get used after everybody went downstairs to enjoy the AC and lunch so if you're going to use one..probably better to keep it downstairs or maybe start it earlier so you get your full time. NO working elevator! Old building so it's sort of understandable but I thought public places HAD to be handicap friendly. All in all it's a beautiful place..had to do the ceremony indoors because of the weather. It was trying to get stuff answered before the day of but everything went off pretty smoothly considering.

Friend of the Bride
I was planning from out of state and settled on Beverly with FotB because she was quick to respond and seemed very sweet. My basic issue was I needed help the day before and day of and just questions beforehand. So she priced things accordingly. I felt the pricing was fair in relation to the help we were to going to be getting. Mostly positive experience beforehand... I had an awful lot of questions and she responded very quickly and efficiently to those. I don't know if I should've made it clearer I needed a little more help getting a response out of a vendor but I didn't feel 100% backing but that could've just been the fact I didn't say hey do this! But eh..I don't know, I figured if you're the go-to person you'd maybe stick your foot in a bit. I like to take care of things myself instead of dictating to everybody else. I just find it's easier. That's where I would've given 4.5 stars out of 5. I was a little disappointed in the rehearsal. I thought maybe I was just being overly sensitive but had felt she was pushy and a little short with me. But other people pointed it out too so I thought ok maybe she's just feeling overwhelmed with us. We're a rowdy bunch and I had warned her of it before. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt. This is where I would've rated 3.5 stars out of 5. The day of...First..she didn't even know who the groom was!!!! I heard after the fact from several in my wedding party she was snotty and rude. That may be the case but I couldn't tell you because to me, she was practically non-existent all day. I almost NEVER saw her! I had to have someone hunt her down after everything started to tell her what to do next. I hired her to basically help with the flow of things. I overheard the DJ say something like in a half hour we'll announce the bride and groom. So I had someone try to hunt Beverly down but we couldn't find her so my photographer went down to tell the DJ we were done with pictures and were ready to come down. Nobody came to me to say hey we're cutting the cake or hey we're doing this. That was the whole point of hiring the day-of planner!! I had to go to the day of manager and say hey look it's 90 freakin degrees up here, we don't have to move lunch up but everybody needs to move DOWNstairs where it's cool. I told her hey this person is supposed to film the ceremony. When nobody was there with a camera, isn't that kinda something you'd think your planner would say didn't you say so and so is supposed to be filming? I was in a room away from everything getting ready and hadn't seen anybody so I had no idea it wasn't being filmed. My fault for not having a backup but I certainly could've delayed things if I had known. I was in a room that had air on so I didn't know my guests were sitting in 90 degree heat. My mom finally found the thermostat on that floor and turned it down. This day is where I would've rated 1 out of 5 stars. Her last words to me were you may get an email from me in the next few days..Nope. Nothing..nada. (ETA: She emailed to say happy one month anniversary) Our other vendors thanked us profusely for including them in the meal. We've had contact with them since. Even requests for us to fill out reviews/suruveys so they can better their service. Another ETA..my husband decided to respond to your one month email and informed her constructively of what the pros/cons were. One of her responses was her job was done at 1230. Our ceremony was at 11am!! I was under the impression she was being hired as a day of consultant. If that's the case, we didn't eat lunch until almost 2..if you're off the clock how could you have the gall to stay and eat one someone elses tab? So that dropped the review another star. All in all. I was disappointed. I guess I expected that person to be there for me to help and guide me the day of but that wasn't the case. Maybe I misunderstood. Everything still worked out wonderfully because I had other people to step in and help. I would recommend her for the questions beforehand. But not for anything after that.
