My FH got my engagement ring at the Jewelry Exhange in Tustin and it is beautiful. They were really informative and helped him choose what was right for us. We went to look at wedding bands recently and I found what I want and we are going to buy it on Sunday. Very good prices and good customer service!

Let me say that I did not wind up buying my dress here, but my best friend did. She had no problems at all. The dress came in on time, the alterations were less than $100 (only needed a bustle). I went to try on a specific dress and they had it on thier floor. I did not have an appointment, but they were still very nice. However, while I was there, a bride came in with a dress that she had bought elsewear and just needed a bustle put in. They gave her alot of grief for not buying from them and for buying online. As a online shopper myself who saved $300 by buying my dress online, this sticks with me and really bothers me. Aside form that, the store was clean and the people were friendly.

Blue Nile

My FH wanted a plain 4mm platinum band. We were quoted $900 from both Robbins Bros and the Jewelry Exchange. Blue Nile had exactly what he wanted for $475 no tax, no shipping. It came in two days and is gorgeous. We were very impressed. AND now they are apart of www.ebates.com so if you sign up for ebates, you get 3% back as well. very nice.

This is a beautiful venue. It is a bit more expensive than most church's, but they limit you on floral, so that helps with the budget. Also, since it is a church, it is a charitable contribution and can therefore be a tax deduction.

My best friend ordered her wedding cake from this bakery. The cake was very yummy and they provided a free anniversery cake topper for the first anniversery. Thier website has some absolutly gorgeous cakes on it. Hmm. This makes me want cake.

Weddings for Less

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I bought my Maggie Sottero dress from this company. It hasn't come in yet, but I am not worried. It will be in at the end of this month and I am so excited! I found my dress by trying three different salons and finally finding the right one. The price they quoted me was $850- pre taxes. weddings for less (based in Westchester) quoted me $600. That was a significant enough savings that I checked into thier business record. They have an A from the Better Business Bureau and have responded quickly to all of my emails. I have been very impressed so far! Oh, and also they sell Cathy's Concepts" items for TONS cheaper than on either the wedding channel website or the knot. I got my groomsmen gifts for $14.40 each. They were $26 on the weddingchannel.com! I just wanted to update. My dress came in last week and is perfect! It came with the Maggie Sottero certificate of authenticity and is exactly what I ordered and it is 2 weeks early! Yay!

Shauntelle Sposto

( 3.0 / 5.0 )
We are very excited to have Shauntelle be our photographer. She is young and energetic and her pictures are absolutely awesome! I can't wait to get married for many reasons, but I can't wait for the pictures! Is that bad? Shauntelle was good. She was recommended by a friend and was the only photographer we met with. We were hugely impressed by her website and by the pictures that she showed us. She was totally willing to work with us on what we wanted and created a package that was suited just for us and our budget. Once we signed the contract we communicated via email. The day of the wedding she was great. We had a miscommunication about where she was to meet us, but she was totally gracious about it. She was really good at commanding attention when she needed people to do what she wanted and was able to do it without being rude. Because part of our package was film (ceremony and romantics on film, reception on digital) our timeframe for receiving the pictures was 6-8 weeks. We received them 7.5 weeks after the wedding. We are happy with the way the pictures turned out. There are some absolutely fabulous pictures. We received them in a lovely black album that held over 200 pictures. There were several things that I was not happy with. Shauntelle is not very good at communication. We needed to call her several times about receiving the pictures. We are also very certain that there is a roll of film missing. She hasnt seemed to be trying very hard to find the roll, even though I know there are pictures that she took that we have not seen. Overall, I am happy with our pictures. We were adamant that the pictures be about the day not the day about the pictures and Shauntelle was very good about that. Once she gets more experience, I think she will be an awesome photographer, but I think she needs a bit more time. We paid $1200, which is really not bad. (included all day, negatives, 4x6 prints of all pictures, and the reception shot in digital) If your budget is between 1K-2K, definitely check her out, but be prepared to stay on top of things.

Janet Brunton

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Janet was awesome. She works out of her house and was very nice. I went to see her three times. Once to drop off the dress and have her pin the hem (all I needed done was the hem and bustle) once to check the skirt and then to pick it up. I was really picky about how the skirt looked when bustled, but she never lost patience with me and kept at it until I was satisfied. My dress had pick-ups so it was a bit harder to work with, but she did a great job. Her price was amazing! She did the hem, a 7 point bustle and steamed the dress for $175. Amazing!

We decided to go with Rec Park because it was very close to the church and it was within our budget. There were also many things included in the package that made my life much easier. Overall we had a very good experience with this venue, but there were several small issues. Included in the package was: food, appetizers, 2 hour open bar, linens, set up, clean up, cake, and 5 hours of the room. We added a sixth hour as well. I believe that packages have changed, so be sure to contact them directly. Between the time we signed the contract and started finalizing details, there was a staffing change and they brought on a new coordinator. We were very pleased with the new lady and she seemed very efficient and organized. I told her what I wanted and she said yes or no. We appreciated her straight forwardness. Food: The food was excellent. We had Chicken stuffed Chardonnay, roasted potatoes and steamed vegetables. We got many compliments on the food. The cake (Rossmoor pastries) was excellent and exactly as ordered. It looked great. Bar: We had some complaints (not to us of course, but to others) about the bar tender. He kept leaving to restock because he was running out of things. He was making drinks pretty strong, which our friends appreciated. My only other complaint with Rec Park was that several things that were supposed to be included in our package were not. We were supposed to have table cameras on each table (included in the package) I put little notes on the tables asking people to take pictures when I was there setting up early in the morning. No cameras were placed on the tables until I expressly asked why they werent there when my mom asked where they were. Also, there were supposed to be four votive candles on each table to augment the centerpieces. They were not there. This is something that no one but me really noticed, but is part of the little details that I cared about. Overall I was very pleased with Rec Park. We had a great time, the room looked great (they have permanently put up silver drapes between chandeliers) and the food was great. If you decide to book with Rec Park, go over all the little details with Cathy to make sure that everything is in how you want it.

Our cake is included in our package and I was a bit worried when I saw thier website. Then I went for our tasting and boy was I impressed! The cakes that they have on display in thier showroom are AMAZING! They can do whatever you want, just bring a picture. While we were there, they were working on a Taj Mahal for someone. It was three feet by three feet and absolutly gorgeous! Oh yeah, and they cakes taste great tio! We had a hard time deciding. The frosting is yummy, the cakes are moist and the fillings are great! I highly recommend them! Update: Our cake looked exactly as I wanted it to, and tasted great as well! It was awesome!

wedding flowers 4 less

( 5.0 / 5.0 )
This is an excellently priced company, however there are some drawbacks. The owners are not the type to guide you. You need to know what you want because they aren't really going to offfer you any suggestions. If you know what you want, then this is a great company for you. UPDATE 1: I had our final meeting with Robert and Shawna last night. We changed a few things slightly but it only added about $30 to our total bill. We are still completely happy with the service and prices. Flowers are not on my "high priority" list so I was totally willing to save the money and not worry about it. I am completely comfortable with this compay. I had a better idea this time of what I wanted and they had no problem with it at all. Also, they are moving into a store front on the corner of Santa Gertrudes and Imperial Highway in La Mirada. (Down Imperial Highway a couple miles from the Norwalk courthouse where you can get your marriage license.) I will post again after the wedding to do a full review. UPDATE 2: The flowers for my wedding were mostly excellent and I am very pleased. All the flowers (plus an extra two corsages we added the DAY BEFORE the wedding) were delivered on early and looked great. I had listhianthas and roses for most of the flowers. I really loved everything except for my bouquet. I had lavender roses and dark purple lisianthas. The roses are super delicate and they were already bruised when I saw them for the first time. No one noticed unless they looked super close, but I noticed right away. Now, lavender roses are especially delicate, so I should have thought about this before, but I was a bit disappointed. I must rave about our altar pieces as well. I found a picture of what I wanted and they reproduced it almost exactly. If you want to see pictures, check out my profile on the knot. (after 12/5/06) Overall, the price was amazing (less than $800) and the quality was great. I would recommend this company, no problem.

Alan Brent Photography

( 3.0 / 5.0 )
I know that many brides on other sites have had horrible experiences with alan brent photography. I do not have first hand experience, but I was following the issues as they were unfolding on the message boards. Brides had everything from drunk photographers at weddings to waiting over a year for pictures. Please do your research on this company before you sign a contract or give them money. I believe that thier scores at the Better Business Bureau speak for themselves.

Enchanted Garden Wedding Chapel

While I don't think anyone who is doing enough research to get to this website would consider this place, I thought I'd post a warning just in case. I went to a wedding at this venue in late October. When we first arrived, we were pleasantly surpised. The bride and groom do not have much money and we were expecting much worse. The outdoor location is fairly attractive. There is a wall covered in flower bearing vines that attracted butterflies and hummingbirds. However, the silk flowers around the arch were completely sun bleached and were not very attractive. The worst part about the venue was the minister/ coordinator. He was creepy, rude, and demanding throughout the day. His entire ceremony was spouted off without any feeling. HIS CELL PHONE RANG TWICE DURING THE CEREMONY and he didn't seem to be bothered by it. If you are on a super tight budget I would suggest a park a long way before considering this venue.

D J Connection

First of all- check out thier prices. If you need a DJ and don't have much budget, these guys are the ones for you. We booked him with 5 weeks left before the wedding. George was very easy to work with. He has a script that you fill in the blanks on what you want and he will work with you on personalization as well. We were very specific on several things and, though he expressed some doubt, did what we wanted him to do. This company was a great deal and worked out well.
