Our Story

Tyler and I met the very first night we moved into college our freshmen year.  I  lived on 4th floor where I met Ashley Poppe and Ellie Geenen.  They had went to Kaukauna and had met Tyler while in high school.  Tyler was over visiting the girls when I came to visit an old roommate of mine.  It was sort of crazy because I recognized David Edwards, that I worked with at Wal-Mart in the girl's room and so I said "Hello" to him and was then introduced to Tyler.  The night I met Tyler we sort of "flirted" as I stole his shoes.  I say "flirted" because I had a boyfriend at the time I met Tyler.  2 weeks later after starting school my boyfriend at the time and I broke up.  Tyler and I talked over the course of 2 months.

We used to go on lengthy walks where we got to know eachother.  He proceeded to tell me how he felt the very first night we met.  he thought I was cute, but wasn't going to make a move becasue of my boyfriend, obviously.

I started getting impatient over the course of when we met and when he asked me out.   I remember our first kiss; we were arguing about which was better crunchy or creamy peanut butter.  He asked me out FINALLY on November 8, 2006 with 3 roses and wearing a button up shirt.  The three roses represented one for me, one for him and one for our fish Stew Man! We first said "I love you" on April 15th, nearly two years later we were engaged and in two more years we will be saying "I do"!

Over the past three years we have grown from friends to happily in love.  Even though it hasn't been easy it was worth it because we can't see ourselves with anyone but each other.  We are so excited to spend forever together. We can't wait to be husband and wife!

The Proposal

My roommates and I had planned a spring break trip out to California in March of 2009.  Withought my knowledge Tyler asked Ashley and Ellie permission to "intrude" on our spring break to ask me to marry him nearly three months before we were going.  The girls and I did all the sightseeing in downtown Los Angeles and payed a visit to Hollywood.  On a Tuesday we went to Laguna Beach where we layed by the ocean for hours.  It was also during that visit that I found a gorgeous spot and joked with the girls about wanting to get married there.  The girls informed Tyler who flew in that Wednesday and drove from the Los Angeles airport to Laguna Beach.  Tyler had no plan besides asking for my hand in marriage so he plugged in Laguna on the GPS and found a hotel once he got there.  That Thursday the girls and I, with the help of Katie Schreiber, headed to Laguna Beach again.  We parked in the same spot and Ellie ran ahead.  I didn't think anything of it, but eventually realized she did that to make sure Tyler was ready.  I continued to walk towards the sidewalk that would eventually take us once again to the beach, but suddenly became sidetracked when I rounded the corner, looked to my right and saw my handsome boyfriend wearing a polo.  I dropped my purse and put my hands over my mouth.  I started to cry.  Tyler took my hand, but eventually had to guide me a rock to sit me down because my knees had buckled.  Around 11:11 on March 26 he proposed to me with Bella's Lullaby playing in the background saying,
"If I had found you, there isn’t a doubt in my mind how I would have proceeded. I was that boy, who would have — as soon as I discovered that you were what I was looking for — gotten down on one knee and endeavored to secure your hand." a quote from Eclipse by Edward Cullen.  Then said Ashley Elizabeth Gogin, will you marry.
Through all the tears, I could only nod.

People have asked if I knew Tyler was there to propose and I have to joke and say that once I saw him in a polo (because he NEVER wore polos) that he was there for something special.
