( 5.0 / 5.0 )
I didn't have the time or budget to do multiple trials, so after some research decided to do a trial with Elaine, was satisfied with it and went ahead and booked her. So although I can't compare her with anyone else, I was pretty happy with her work. The makeup lasted all day with the exception of some minor blotting and lip gloss touch up. Elaine definitely has tons of experience and you can tell... although she was so adept at her work that I almost felt like I was getting a cookie-cutter job :P The free use of tiara/hair-piece was a nice bonus. She was very punctual and actually finished so early that I had to call the photographer to come ahead of schedule. She brought a couple assistants to do the bridesmaids' and moms' hair and makeup, and I have to say, her assistant that does hair is AWESOME! Everyone's hair looked great, although the makeup was kind of hit or miss.

Cathy's Bakery
( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Yummy cake, very reasonable prices. Delivery was late but I think that was actually my reception site's fault and not the bakery... it was delivered to site but got lost somewhere and didn't make it to the actual banquet room... but everything worked out. The cake itself was smaller than I thought, but tasted great - light, fluffy and fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. Would recommend.

Cheesy Photobooths
( 5.0 / 5.0 )
We couldn't be more happy with Cheesy Photobooth. Definitely was one of the best decisions we made. I had some trouble convincing the FI that a photobooth was a worthwhile spend on top of everything else, but it turned out to be one of the highlights and most complimented feature of the whole wedding. My one concern was that not very many people would use it since we had a mostly older conservative crowd, but EVERYBODY did and had a great time using it! The kids of course loved it and took multiple rounds of pictures. Several of my guests who are planning their own wedding have approached me to ask for their contact information, and I think that is most revealing testimonial of all! We really liked Cheesy Photobooth in particular and were so happy to have chosen to work with them. Their package was the most comprehensive in my opinion - everything you could ever want or ask for. They give you unlimited double prints, free custom banner with whatever names/date/design you want on every print, DVD with all the digital images, scrapbooking pages and supplies (and they will put together and send you the scrapbook afterwards), free delivery/setup, and super professional attendants. We even liked the look of the photobooth itself. I would give Cheesy Photobooth 6 stars out of 5 if I could! I would work with them again in a heartbeat... and to all those brides who are on the fence... definitely do it! It turn out to be one of the best things about our wedding!

Red 5 Studios
( 5.0 / 5.0 )
Although he was a last-minute booking for us due to budget constraints, we really liked his work and decided to splurge... and he did not disappoint! We loved our Same Day Edit and received many compliments from our guests. Loyd was very reasonable and super easy to work with, he even let us use his projector to play our slideshow during the reception. Red 5 Studios was definitely one of our favorite vendors and we would definitely recommend him to anyone.

A Timeless Occasion
( 3.0 / 5.0 )
I have mixed feelings about Timeless Occasion. When we first found them, we LOVED them. They were so reasonable, down to earth, and easy to work with. I bought my dress from their shop, and at the time I placed the order we had two possible wedding dates depending on venue availability. Helen suggested putting down the earlier date just to make sure the dress will get here in time, so I did. We ended up using the later date, but the dress came early anyway... but unfortunately we got charged a $150 rush delivery fee which we were never told about or approved (or needed). But Helen said she felt bad and offered to cover half of it, so we let it go and paid it. Then came the alterations. Although I appreciated their effort and how they did listen and tried to get it right... I have to admit that I wasn't very satisfied with their work. I had to come in for 6 fittings total.. mostly because not much would be changed between each visit. And although the dress turned out okay, in retrospect I would have either done the alterations somewhere else or I would have picked a different dress. To add insult to injury, although Helen initially said that they usually don't charge much for alterations, sometimes not at all, and my dress was not difficult to alter... she ended up charging us $80 for it. I think the fact that we felt like we overpaid made the whole alteration process even more dissatisfactory. Furthermore, Helen quoted us the best price we found on chair covers, and she said she would give us that price although we had less than the usual number of guests. However, Helen was getting married on our date, so we were referred to her associate Samantha who was covering for her, but Samantha would not honor that quote. It wasn't really Helen's fault but we felt a little let down. So again, I have mixed feelings. We really enjoyed our interactions with them and really liked Helen and Pat as people, but for some reason walked away not quite as satisfied as we could have been. I can see how Helen would make a great coordinator though, and would probably still recommend them to others.
