Reviews for J Crew (J. Crew)
I ordered J Crew dresses for my bridesmaids too! =) As the previous reviewers said, J Crew is great! They are so easy to work with for returns and sizing, and have a lot of great sales! The quality of the dress is really great and I love how it doesn't look like a typical bridesmaids dress so the girls can wear it again.
I ordered four beach embossed dresses in rosebud (two halter, two strapless). Got them on sale for $70 each by calling in on the phone at the store (the salesperson did everything for me, I just told them my order and my credit card info).
Random tip: if you order the catalog item from the store, you don't have to pay for shipping!
I'm not using J. Crew for my wedding, but I just wore one of their dresses as a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. There were six of us bridesmaids, and we each got a navy blue cotton embossed beach dress (three strapless, one halter, and two shifts). We are all different shapes, so it was great to have a choice as to the cut - and the price certainly couldn't be beat! The ceremony was at the beach, so the casual style was perfect - and so wearable in the future. Nothing bridesmaid-y about them at all. Note: I think J. Crew runs quite large, so order down, or better yet, try on at the store. I love their petites!
I'm wearing the Avery gown that I purchased from JCrew.com and it's perfect. The silk feels so luxurious and drapes beautifully. I was lucky enough to buy it when it was on sale for $250. It's the easiest decision I've made in this whole wedding planning process.
Highly recommended!!!
I just loved how Sophia looked on my bridesmaids. All my girls looked AMAZING! I refused to buy Briddesmaid dress from wedding dress shop because no matter how pretty they are they probably won't be worn ever again. And I think I made the right choice buying the dresses from J.Crew, they are so pretty and wearable they can wear them to about any occasion! My girls loved them too.
We used J Crew for our bridesmaid dresses. The girls said ordering was very easy, quick delivery and easy in store returns. I found them to be extremely helpful when I was deciding, they sent me swatches overnight (!!!) to see fabrics and even called to check back in and see what I decided.
The dresses are high quality and the fabric (we chose the cotton cady line) very lush and nice. I will advise to order a size down from your normal, all of the dresses for my five BMs were big and need alteration.
I ordered J Crew dresses for my bridesmaids - nothing but praise!! They were so easy to work with in ordering and returning to perfect the sizing! I definitely recommend J Crew. And the bonus, the girls can wear the dresses again.
Love the J crew dresses! It's perfect for the bridesmaids. Great selection! ready to wear! The girls can wear it again!
J.Crew was the perfect choice for clothing for our seaside wedding. We both found exactly what we were looking for. I found a great dress on sale for only $99! Although you may not find a deal like that, I highly recommend J.Crew for any bride on a budget. The only catch is you need to order the dress in order to try it on. As far as I know, J.Crew does not carry any of the wedding dresses they offer in the store. My DH found a well-made suit that he felt comfortable in. J.Crew even did all of his alterations for free. Another little trick for budget brides, order in the store and the shipping is free!
I am wearing the JCrew Avery dress, which retailed for $295 at the time I purchased it. IMO, the quality is comparable to dresses that are in the $2k plus range because: it is 100% silk, is fully lined, fits wonderfully, and the craftsmanship is great. The customer service representatives are very knowledgable and helpful, as well. I especially love the way the dress photographs, it looks like the softest, most glamorous silk in photos.
My bridesmaids are wearing dresses from JCrew's "weddings and parties" line and have had a good experience selecting their dresses online. JCrew has a "special occasions" hotline, where specialists answer all your questions about various fabrics, colors, sizes, etc. and can send you swatches of the different fabrics in your colors. My bridesmaids liked being able to order "normal" sizes (including petite and tall sizes) and have been able to receive and return their dresses easily when there have been any sizing or fit issues. A couple of them even say that they'll be able to wear their dresses again, after the wedding! (I'm hoping they're not just being nice...:) )
I always love JCrew and was so excited that they started offering BM dresses. The dresses were simple and elegant and for sure something my girls can wear again. And since I purchased all the dresses for them, pricing was important to me. With J Crew, I felt I didn't compensate the quality even though the price was great.
GORGEOUS DRESSES!
LOVE, love, love them!
I highly recommend J.Crew!!!!
The other brides who have written in to this thread are complete idiots. J Crew may be a good deal for you ... but I was PISSED when I was asked to shell out for one of their pricey bridesmaid dresses. Yes, I tried to wear it again... I had been at the party for 5 minutes before someone asked me if I was wearing a bridesmaid dress.
Get these dresses if you have to. But don't think you're doing your friends --because yes, you should treat your bridesmaids like friends--any favors.
Description of J Crew (J. Crew)
J.Crew began in 1983, when the first catalog was launched. Since then, the business has expanded to that of an iconic American brand known worldwide for its sophisticated, fun clothing and accessories to live, work, play and even get married in.
The first J.Crew store opened in 1989 at the South Street Seaport in New York City. Since then, J.Crew has expanded to 196 retail and 63 outlet stores across the country, and more openings are planned in 2007. J.Crew.com, which was launched in 1996, allows customers to shop beyond the stores and catalog, offering deeper assortments, colors, and size ranges.
In January of 2003, Millard "Mickey" Drexler joined the company as CEO and Chairman and named Jeff Pfeifle as President, bringing inspiration, creativity, and unparalleled expertise to J. Crew. Together with their teams, they have set the industry standard for quality, design, and style by using the finest fabrics, craftsmen, and mills throughout Europe and the U.S. to create signature pieces like the J.Crew Legacy blazer, fine Italian cashmere sweaters, and famous broken-in chinos. Most importantly, J.Crew has renewed its passion for style and exceptional service as it moves toward an exciting future.
