Reviews for Lady Jane Fashions
Lady Jane was good, but not someone I would particularly rave about. She did a decent job. When I first brought my dress to her, she really had me worried because she said that she wouldn't be able to shorten my dress due to the embroidery on the bottom. She ended up taking it up from the waist, but then she needed to re-do the seams so that it would match up with the seams on the bodice part. The work was good enough, but not quite perfect.
Jane does a good job at a fair price, but she can get so busy that she forgets about you. I went in for my first fitting only to discover that she'd completely forgotten about our appointment and hadn't even started working on my dress yet. She rescheduled me for the following week and was ready.
She did do a very good job of taking my dress in (I bought it online and it had to be taken in four inches) and doing a simple but pretty bustle at a very reasonable price, so I would still recommend her. During the busy season, I would definitely advise calling her a few days before your appointment to confirm it with her.
She did a very simple bustle that somehow got torn up by the end of the day (someone probably stepped on it and I didn't notice) but it looked nice while it lasted.
Jane does wonderful work, and she is such a nice lady! She works with her daughter out of their shop in Toluca Lake, and they did a great job on my gown. It needed to be taken in a bit, and I was very happy with the work they did, and she is VERY reasonable! Plus, she’s just such a nice lady, you can’t help but love her!
I booked with Lady Jane right before she got sick in March. I spoke with her on the phone and she was a total sweetheart. I received a call the morning of my appointment from her daughter who let me know Jane was ill but she also had experience with wedding dresses and was taking over during her mother's illness. Her daughter was great. She added cups, made a blue sash to lace up the back of my corset dress with and added a 9 point bustle. I picked up my dress two weeks before my wedding and it was gorgeous. It was then I found our Jane had passed away and the business would be closed. She is a huge loss to the wedding industry and I'm sure will be missed all of her friends, family and clients.
I took my dress in to get bustled. I knew it would be hard since my gown already had pick-ups in it. She did an amazing job with my dress and fixed other things along the way and never charged me for the extras! Great prices!!!!! I would have to give her an A- just because my bustle did not hold at all! it came apart fast. But that could have been my sister's fault (maybe she didn't do it right).
I love Lady Jane! I hated my dress when I brought it into her, and she managed to alter it perfectly, change the style so I loved it again, found me the ribbon for the sash after multiple searchings, and then went on to custom-make my cathedral drop veil, even making a few trips downtown herself to get the right kind of lace since I couldn't seem to find it. And her prices were a steal!! She had to add panels to one of my girl's dresses when she accidentally bought the wrong size, and you couldn't even tell it had been touched. Really great work. She gets ridiculously busy during wedding season, so definitely go in early if you're getting married May-September. I had no problems whatsoever, but I have heard stories.
I just found out that Lady Jane passed away a couple of months ago. ; (
